Today has been a very emotional day saying goodbye to Krista who has worked her last day at Hasbury Acorns to retire and make the move to Cornwall ⛱️
We are all going to miss her so much, she’s been such a brilliant and loved member of the team working our breakfast and afterschool club and we can’t thank her enough for everything she has done!! We are so sad to see her go but know she is going to love it in Cornwall with her family and two beautiful dogs! 🐕 ❤️
We ended Krista’s last afterschool club session tonight in the best way, with an acorns style karaoke, disco, and party games 🥳 we even had lovely speeches given from some of our year 4 girls 😁 🎤
We would like to wish Krista all the best on her new adventure and we shall be sure to stay in touch...from everyone here at Hasbury Acorns
💚💜💚💜💚💜💚💜💚💜💚💜💚💜

If any of our families are looking at some fun in the Easter holidays our local church are putting on a 'Messy Church session' for children and families to attend. 😁 🐣 🎨

We are so excited!!! Our first messy church is coming up. Wednesday 1st April 10-11.45am. Family Time for preschool and primary age children and their parents/carers. Songs, story, craft activities and hot cross buns for everyone… come and explore the real meaning of Easter ! If you’ve never been to church before, why not come along and join in! Chance to meet people, make new friends, and learn a little bit about the Love of Jesus. You are so so loved.

If you can’t come on the Wednesday to us, we are also doing Messy at our sister church, S. Peter, Cradley on Good Friday (3rd April) 10am - 11.15am

You’re very welcome to just drop in - but if you can book with [email protected], that would help us plan for numbers 🙂

🌸🌳 Oak tree room fun (3-4s) 🌳🌸

The children in oak tree room have been having so much fun at nursery. They had a lovely end to their topic “people who help us” last term with a visit from the police officers and paramedics. 🚔 🚑 We are so grateful to all of the professionals who came in to see us at nursery. We then enjoyed a parent craft morning with lots of lovely activities for our parents and carers to take part in.😀

This half term we are looking at “growth and decay” and have already started doing some really fun activities based around this, so far we have..
🪴 Planted seeds while up in forest school, we water our pots and take care of them waiting for our spring flowers to grow 🌸
🪴Explored ‘Jack and the beanstalk’ by counting beans matching the numeral and quantity together. We also practiced our literacy skills writing the letters of our name on beanstalk leaves and putting them onto the beanstalk also practicing our cutting skills. ✂️ ✏️
🪴 We took part in the ‘bean in a bag’ experiment. We explored our new word ‘germinate’ and are keeping a close eye on them to see if our kidney beans will germinate at nursery. We look after them and check them daily. 🫘
🪴Soup making- The children chose different vegetables to chop up using safety knives and add to their own soup. The children then enjoyed eating it at snack time. 🍲

The children have also been busy in their tuesday P.E sessions taking part in:
⚽️ Core strength activities
⚽️ Relays, races and teamwork games
⚽️ Assault courses moving in a range of ways
⚽️ Throwing and Catching practice
⚽️ The bean game (linking to our topic being different kind of beans)

We have also enjoyed our music and movement sessions which we now do:
Monday- Body percussion
Tuesday- dough disco
Wednesday- squiggle wiggle
Thursday- Rhythm sticks
Friday- woodland yoga 😀 🎶 🧘‍♀️ 🥁 🪘

All the children have loved getting involved in all activities and it’s been a very busy start to the term for us. We can’t wait to continue our topic and also have lots of fun Easter activities and events to look forward to!! 😀 🐣

🟡🔵 Acorn room Fun!! (2-3s) 🔵🟡

The children in Acorn room have been very busy since returning January and are enjoying their new topic of 'nursery rhymes and story tales.' They have looked at a range of songs already and have enjoyed focusing on fun activities around these 🎵
Acorn children have also been doing so well with their finger gym activities. Finger gym is very important and is the first stage of getting ourselves ready for writing later on. We have took part in..
✏️ Dough disco.. this involves strengthening our fingers by poking, pinching, splatting, rolling, and squeezing the dough following the musical instructions. 🎶
✏️ Finger gym tuff trays where we have scooped, pinched, picked and poured different foods into cake cases using tweezers and other equipment. 🧁
✏️ Messy tuff trays using spoons to dig out the different hiden numbers in the gloop. 🥄
✏️ Threading using different shaped beads and pipe cleaners. Not only does this help strengthen the childrens fingers it also helps hand-eye co-ordination. 🤲

We have also took part in..
⭐️ P.E lessons on a friday, including fun parachute games, assault courses and football ⚽️
⭐️Daily Music and movement sessions. Including dancing and using instruments. Also on a tuesday we have been doing yoga in Oaktree room while they are out doing P.E. The children have listened and followed the movements so well and enjoy moving in a range of ways. 🧘‍♀️
⭐️ Completing more challenging puzzles
⭐️Pencil control activities forming numbers, letters and practicing drawing faces.
⭐️ Looking at weighing scales, matching numeral and quantity and exploring more and less. ⚖️
⭐️ Enjoying the comfy book area reading our favourite books 📚
⭐️ Taking part in a range of WellComm screening interventions such as following simple 'What' and 'where" questions in our role play kitchen area enhancing our communication skills.
⭐️ Making bubbles in our waterplay exploring under water creatures. 🐢 🐙

🟣🟢🟣 Oaktree Room Fun! (3-4s) 🟣🟢🟣
Over this first term back the children in oak tree room are learning about occupations and how different people help us within the community. 😁

First of all Mr Green, the school caretaker came in and spoke to the children about what he does to ensure the school is safe for all the children to play, learn, and explore. 🏫 He showed them the checks he carries out on a morning using his tablet and showed us some of the many tools he uses. The children enjoyed looking at his tools and hearing about what they are used for and the different jobs Mr Green does on a daily basis to ensure the school is safe for us all. 🔧 🔦

We then had a local vet called Ana come and talk to the children about her job role. She brought in her toy dog called bingo and let the children bandage him up, check his heart and give him pretend medication with a syringe.🩺💉 Ana then showed the children what she has to wear when she is operating on the animals, she even let the children wear the uniform and look the part. 😁 Ana showed the children pictures on her Ipad of animals shes had in her vets, we saw dirty teeth, X-rays, poorly eyes and lots more. Ana then gave all the children a gift each to take home. 🐕 🏥

Yesterday we had some local firefighters come and visit us from Haden Cross Fire Station 🚒 They spoke with the children about the importance of fire alarms, what they do, and why we need them. They asked the children to all check if they have fire alarms at home. 🚨 The firefighters then had Olivia dressed in their safety gear. They explained the importance of each piece of uniform and why they have to wear it, as this helps protect them from any burns from the fires. 🔥 They then let the children go outside and see their fire truck. They showed the children the hose, their 'jaws of life' tool and of course, their lights. 🧑‍🚒🚒 The firefighters asked the children a range of questions throughout such as what number do we have to ring when we need the emergency services to help us. 🔥🚨

We would like to say a huge thank you to our important visitors so far, you have all made our topic so exciting and the children have learnt so much from you all. 😁
We are looking forward to a visit off West Midlands Police next week when we look at the importance of our police officers. 🚔
