I’m sooo tired of seeing and picking up rubbish thrown out of car windows by idiots who think the world owes them something and that the natural world is there’s to pollute with their empty cans of monster and disposable vapes!!

Allow authorities to impose penalty points on drivers for discarding litter from a vehicle. Increase minimum on the spot fines for littering and awareness through TV/online campaigns. Insist businesses take more responsibility in anti-litter campaigns. Increase budget for highways litter picks.

We will be chatting though our plans for the year and catching up with what we’ve been up to!

Do you use disposable plastic gloves when you fill up at the petrol station? We find them nearly every walk by petrol stations, either from being dropped on the ground or blown out of open bins along the road.

Are they really necessary? They’re not recycled. They go straight to landfill to survive for generations or eventually break down into microplastics. Is it worth it for 2 minutes of use?

If not wishing to touch the petrol pump with bare hands, could you keep a pair of gloves in the car? Or just wash hands after? Or use refillable sanitizer?

These things haven’t always been around - what did people do before?

OPERATION CLEAN UP!

We had a brilliant meeting with the Waste management and recycling teams at Redcar and Cleveland Borough council today! We have an action plan which was put together back in 2017. We are now working with the council to reassess the plan to establish where we are now and how we can improve things moving forward. It’s a massive step closer to our accredited plastic free community status and we are so pleased to have such a supportive council who want to do what they can to reduce their single use plastics as a council and as a borough!
