Grasmere WI

Grasmere WI usually meets at 2pm, on the second Thursday of the month, in Grasmere Village Hall. We are a very active, lively , friendly group.

Come along to a meeting to try us out. A full year's membership is a bargain at £52 Grasmere WI - Inspiring Women since 1919. We meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month, 2pm, Grasmere Village Hall. Occasionally this may change so please check here. Every 4th Thursday we meet for a ramble , followed by tea and cakes. Most other Thursdays we arrange a day out somewhere local. Tea and cakes in a cafe a

re probably involved. We are a very active lively WI, and we are always very keen to welcome new members. Come along as our guest to try us out. A full year's WI membership is only £44. An absolute bargain! We have a thriving WhatsApp members group, and are also active on Twitter and Instagram.

Every year Grasmere W I has a slot on the flower rota at St Oswald's Church, Grasmere in memory of past members. This started years ago following the death of much loved member Betty Green, who ran our post office with husband Alan for many years (now the site of Freda + Ray )

A few years ago we had the idea of putting a a couple of extra vases of flowers on display. We asked members to bring along flowers and foliage ,and we were overwhelmed!

Yesterday Helen Kenyon and our flower team got to work, and there is now a beautiful display which will be in St Oswald’s for the next two weeks.

Please take and look and enjoy them. Thanks to all who helped and donated their time , flowers and enthusiasm.

We are so pleased and proud to support this wonderful village tradition, long may it continue ❤️

Huge thanks to all involved and who made the event happen, such a big team effort over many weeks 🙏 So pleased all the hard work paid off, it was a huge success 🎉🎉🎉

Such a wonderful June GWI ramble 👟❤️🌞

This is how it started at our fabulous local bookshop 📚Sam Read Bookseller Ltd as always and how it finished at Gras Vegas (aka the Swan, Grasmere
🦢 🤣) 🍻🥂🥤🍤 & 🍟 🤦🏻‍♀️❤️🤣🤣🤣

And in between, we had a tour of our President’s (Louise Sykes) amazing garden, she’s such a talented gardener 👨‍🌾 🪏 🤦🏻‍♀️ ❤️🤣🤣🤣

Such a wonderful day out at the fabulous Brantwood Coniston 🏡 and gardens 🌸🌺🌳🌲🌿🌼 with a really excellent garden tour by the brilliant Simone Daye , Head of Brantwood Gardens & Estate 🤩

We learnt so much about the history of the gardens and future plans; Ruskin (of course) and the Gold 🌟 win at Chelsea for the Brantwood wisteria 🥇💜💜💜

Huge thanks to Simone for the best tour and making us so welcome 🤗 and sharing her truly inspiring story 🙏🌟

And big thanks to Hayley Davidson from GWI for arranging everything so well, so pleased Hayley and Simone met at Chelsea 🌺Show and the rest is history as they say ❤️🤣

And of course we kept the The Terrace Cafe very busy all day ☕️🍰🧁🫖🍦🤦🏻‍♀️❤️🤣🤣🤣
