Flashback to August! Fix the Fells worked with a group of 12 volunteers from the BMC who were staying at one of their huts in Buttermere.

In rather hot conditions we walked up to just below the summit of Whiteless Pike where we re-profiled the camber of about 150 meters of a zig zag bench path. The group also landscaped out a couple of short cuts that had formed.

Thanks so much to the BMC team for all their amazing support!

Yes we're still going on about our 25th birthday (we're allowed - we're grown-ups now). Here's a little video that we made at the 25th celebration event last week - some of our professional rangers, support staff, volunteers and partners explain what makes Fix the Fells so special.

Happy birthday to... us! 😍🎉🍾 We are 25 years old this week and we celebrated the occasion with a walk up Rannerdale to look at work done in 2001 - one of the very first Fix the Fells projects! And then we gathered together with friends old and new to enjoy a very fine cake!

Big thanks to all the professional rangers, volunteers, partners, staff team, supporters, funders, donors, friends and you - our social media family for all the likes and shares! Here's to another 25 years.

Some photos from a volunteer path maintenance day in June! We headed up to Easedale Tarn from Grasmere, and back via Stythwaite Steps. Sunshine and heavy showers (including hail) but lovely bright colours and lots of good chat as everyone went. Work included some drain clearance and this kind of work is so important!

Look back to June. and the BMC Mend Our Mountains volunteers teamed up to widen and improve 80m of the popular Hole in the Wall path on Helvellyn.

The BMC are regular supporters of Fix the Fells and 13 of their volunteers worked with 5 Fix the Fellers on two typical Lakeland summer days of sun, wind, rain and hail, but leaving the path in a much better state than we found it!

Event alert! The Thirlmere Aqueduct - an illustrated talk.

95.9 miles of tunnels, pipes and water courses, taking 50 million gallons of water daily between Thirlmere and Manchester.

John Butcher was the United Utilities engineer and manager of the aqueduct for 30 years. His talk takes you on a fascinating journey from Thirlmere to Manchester, from conception to completion and current usage.

Before and after shots of our work on Catbells - one of the most heavily used footpaths in the Lake District! On a clear day you can see for miles... today... not so much. But we hope you agree that the new path looks amazing.
