As the wonderful Lake Artists Society Exhibition comes to an end on 9th September, we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Grasmere Village Hall for our weekly Coffee & Chat mornings — and to an exciting autumn programme of events and activities.

Coffee & Chat returns on Wednesday 23rd September, and we’d love to see you there. Come along for a friendly chat over a cup of tea or coffee, and catch up with friends old and new in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

🎨 Forget brushes! Try painting with a ‘credit card’! 🖌️

Join artist Valerie Stamper at Grasmere Village Hall for a fun, informal and relaxed watercolour workshop with a difference.

Rather than using brushes, you’ll use a simple plastic ‘credit card’ to move and sculpt watercolour paint on paper, creating wonderful textures and marks. You’ll start by creating a sky using a simple watercolour technique, before using deep, earthy colours to paint a beautiful wintery fell landscape. 🏔️

🎭 The Grasmere Dialect Plays are coming home!

Step back in time and discover a fascinating piece of Grasmere’s history.

Nearly 100 years ago, the Grasmere Dialect Plays, written by Eleanor Rawnsley and performed by local residents, became a major attraction, filling the Village Hall year after year.

Now, for one special evening, the Lakeland Dialect Society is bringing scenes from these much-loved plays back to the very place where they were originally performed – making them accessible, entertaining and full of local character for a modern audience.

The evening will also feature music and song from Carolyn Francis and folklorist Sue Allan.

What a wonderful afternoon at the Grasmere Sports Show! ☀️🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to organise this fantastic community event. It was great to see so many people enjoying the day and taking part in the wide range of activities, creating such a brilliant atmosphere.

Our mixed team from Grasmere Village Hall and Grasmere Players, brilliantly led by Paul Davies, had a great time representing the Hall in the tug of war and were delighted to do so well.

It was a real pleasure to be part of such a special community occasion.

Well done to everyone who took part, and thank you again to all the organisers and volunteers for making the day such a success. 👏

🏴‍☠️ One of our first autumn events is just three weeks away! 🏴‍☠️

If you’re looking for a fun night out in Grasmere, don’t miss The Mystery of the Pirate Lagoon on Friday 18th September at Grasmere Village Hall.

Ragged Edge Productions return after their hugely popular Blue Moon Saloon, bringing another hilarious live radio play packed with pirates, mystery, ridiculous characters and plenty of laughs.

🍷 The bar will be open before the show and during the interval, so come along, relax and enjoy a great evening of live entertainment.

🏴‍☠️ Pirate hats, eye patches and costumes are encouraged if you’re feeling adventurous—but they’re definitely not essential!
