All over Europe now, the sun is beating down on us. In Ukraine and on top of everything else they are dealing with, people are also having to contend with this penetrating heat. When visiting a remote village, the simple orange brought smiles to these children's faces. With little in the way of food available, it's hard to believe that oranges can be seen as a rare treat in some areas that Door of Hope visits.

In Bulgaria, many children come from broken and uneducated family backgrounds. Through our education centre in the small town of Chirpan, Door of Hope is offering these children the opportunity of a basic education to help give them a head start and move on from this ongoing poverty cycle.

Very happy to receive a pallet of boxes today filled with over 230 'Bags of Education' bags. We want to thank our good friend 'Jane" and the students at "Ysgol Bryn Hedydd School" in North wales for this wonderful bumper pallet of bags this year. We can't forget also "James Ryder" who raised the money for the students to create the bags. Fantastic team work. These will be packed into cartons ready for shipment to poor and marginalised communities, where children need a helping hand with their school education.

Education has the power to change a child’s future.
Yet for many vulnerable children in Bulgaria and Ukraine, even the basic school supplies needed to attend school are simply out of reach for their families.
Through our Bags of Education project, we provide children with backpacks filled with essential school materials, helping them go to school with dignity, confidence, and hope for a better future.
A simple bag may not seem much to us, but to a child living in poverty it can mean opportunity, encouragement, and the chance to build a different life.
We would love more people to stand with us and be part of changing young lives through education.

In Zaporozhye, Ukraine, many vulnerable people are living in fear and uncertainty because of the ongoing war. Many have lost jobs, struggle to afford food, and feel isolated and forgotten.
Through the local church we support, people are able to receive a hot meal, practical care, and encouragement during incredibly difficult times.

Recently, our project leader (Zina) and her team of volunteers visited a shelter with families and children who have been evacuated from frontline villages. These children are from Komyshevataya and were thrilled to see us, especially when we delivered ‘Bags of Education” to them. When these people are evacuated, only the essential items go with them. Moving to a new destination can be daunting but it means a lot to a child that they don’t feel alone and are supported, especially when they start a new school with “Bags of Education”

Outside Liviv our project leader (Misha) and his team visit a boarding school that looks after over 100 vulnerable men and young adults. These people have been abandoned by family members who have fled because of various reasons, including the war. These people are generally bedridden and in need of constant care and support. The staff struggle with the amount of people entering and so are very grateful when our project leader and his team turn up regularly bringing; food, aid and supplies. Many are unwell and without relatives but their eyes light up when we enter. Door of Hope continues to support Misha in life changing projects such as this.

Following repairs to our damaged and leaking roof, lessons at our education centre in Bulgaria are now back in full swing.

Many of the children who attend come from very poor and uneducated backgrounds, where opportunities in life can feel limited from the very beginning. Through the support and education they receive at the centre, we hope to give each child encouragement, confidence, and a better start for the future.

For many children attending this summer camp in Poltava, life has already brought heartbreak far beyond their years.
Some have lost parents because of the war.
Others come from deeply broken and difficult home situations.
