How has the new year been for you? There are always all sorts of feelings when this time of the year rolls around. Some bursting with excitement at all the new resolutions they are eager to conquer, others are sitting with dread because the past year was not great, and they are nervous that this year will turn out the same. There are also people in the in-between; they are excited but do not dare hope too much for fear that their hopes will get dashed.

Whichever camp you find yourself in... the good news is that we can take heart that while we look at life in years, God looks at our lives in seasons. If He intends to bring you through a particular season... it might take months, a year or even years. While that can seem disengaging, the better news is that if He is not done with us, He is nowhere close to finishing His work yet.

The best news is that — He will always be right beside us, each and every day. So, whatever 2023 was like for you, go ahead and hope. Hope for the impossible; have a blessed 2024!

When you think of Christmas, what comes to mind? Christmas trees decorated beautifully, people singing Christmas carols joyously, presents under the tree, and a table set with decadent food for the festive season are all common images tied closely to Christmas. But let's pause for a moment. The purpose of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Many years ago, Jesus was born in a manger where it might have been small, unkempt, and unpleasant. Though humble, the birth of Jesus changed history and brought hope, joy, peace, and love to all humankind. Even as we enter a month of festivities, may we remember the Reason for the season.
