💜 **September is World Alzheimer’s Month** 💜

This month, we’re helping to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, while showing our support for everyone whose life has been touched by it.

Behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, a story and a lifetime of memories. By talking openly, learning more and showing kindness and understanding, we can help challenge the stigma that still surrounds dementia.

💜 Remember the person, not just the diagnosis.
💜 Support families, friends and carers.
💜 Help spread awareness.

Together, we can make a difference.

💜 Autism in Women: Raising Awareness 🌈♾️

For so many women, autism goes unnoticed for years—or even decades.

Many autistic women are diagnosed later in life because they’ve spent years masking (hiding their autistic traits), copying others to fit in, or being misunderstood. They may have been told they’re “too sensitive,” “shy,” “anxious,” or “dramatic” when they were actually autistic all along.

A late diagnosis isn’t about becoming someone new—it’s about finally understanding who you’ve always been.

✨ Did you know?
• Many autistic women receive a diagnosis in adulthood.
• Autism can look different in women than the stereotypes many people have seen.
• Every autistic person is unique—there is no single “look” or “type” of autism.
• A diagnosis can bring self-understanding, validation, appropriate support, and a sense of belonging.

💙 How you can help
🌸 Listen without judgement.
🌸 Believe autistic people when they share their experiences.
🌸 Challenge outdated stereotypes.
🌸 Learn about masking and autistic burnout.
🌸 Create spaces where people feel accepted for being themselves.
🌸 Celebrate neurodiversity and different ways of thinking.

• Autistic Women & Nonbinary Network (AWN) – https://awnnetwork.org
• Autism Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) – https://autisticadvocacy.org
• NHS Autism Information – https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/autism

💡 If you think you might be autistic:
• Read trusted information about autism in adults.
• Keep notes about your experiences and traits.
• Speak with your GP or healthcare provider about an autism assessment if appropriate.
• Connect with autistic-led communities where you can learn from lived experiences.
• Remember that self-understanding is valuable, whether you’re at the start of your journey or already have a diagnosis.

Let’s replace myths with understanding, judgement with acceptance, and awareness with meaningful action.

Different doesn’t mean less—it means human. 💜🌈♾️

💚 Caring for someone else? Don’t forget to look after yourself too. 💚

If you support a family member, friend or neighbour with everyday tasks, appointments, medication or emotional support, you are an unpaid carer.

Carers play a vital role in our community and deserve support, recognition and time for themselves. 🌿

We’ll soon be sharing details of local coffee mornings ☕, wellbeing sessions 🌸 and opportunities to meet other carers and access advice.

Watch this space for upcoming events and support available near you. 💚

🍉 MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY 🍎

It’s that time of the week again!

“This is your Monday reminder that small healthy choices can lead to big results.” 🌿

With the warm weather continuing, why not make staying hydrated your healthy habit for this week? 💧☀️

Drinking enough water can help to:
💙 Keep your body cool
🧠 Improve concentration and focus
⚡ Boost energy levels
😊 Support your mood
❤️ Keep your body functioning at its best

If you find it difficult to drink enough water, try these simple tips:
🥤 Carry a reusable water bottle with you
⏰ Set reminders on your phone
🍓 Add slices of lemon, lime, cucumber or berries for extra flavour
🍽 Have a glass of water with every meal
🚰 Refill your bottle whenever you finish it

Remember, you don’t have to make huge changes overnight. One small healthy habit, repeated each day, can make a real difference.

💬 What’s your favourite way to stay hydrated? Share your tips in the comments below! 👇🏽

Have a happy, healthy Monday! 💚
