🦇 Bat Rescue at Godalming Youth Centre! 🦇
Well, this was certainly an un-fur-gettable part of our day!
We spotted a little bat clinging to a wall at the youth centre and immediately thought, "That's a bit batty..." As bats are usually asleep during the day, we knew our tiny visitor might need some help.
Enter Bat-Team Jane and Florence! 🦸♀️🦸♀️
Before doing anything, we called the National Bat Helpline for advice, because that's the bat-sensible thing to do. Following their guidance, our dynamic duo carefully helped our little friend into a makeshift bat box with plenty of ventilation and kept him calm until he could be safely handed over to the experts within the hour.
We’re happy to report that our winged visitor is now in the care of people who know bats inside and out. Good luck, little friend. We're rooting for you! 🦇❤️
If you ever find a bat:
✅ Don't disturb or harm it. Bats are protected by law.
✅ Contact the Bat Conservation Trust or National Bat Helpline for advice.
✅ If the bat appears injured or unwell, seek help from a licensed bat carer or vet.
✅ Keep the area calm and quiet to reduce stress.
✅ Avoid handling bats unless absolutely necessary, and always wear gloves if advised to do so.
✅ If you think you've been bitten or scratched, follow guidance from the Bat Conservation Trust.
Today was a reminder that even the smallest visitors deserve a helping hand. Or should that be a helping wing? 😉
