The hunt set off from the meet after a bit of sitting around, random whipping in the direction of hounds who were largely staying together anyway (seems a bit pointless) and a bit of a speech thanking imaginary trail liars 🤷‍♀️

They headed south inland where a sab was waiting for them, then headed east, largely drawing blank until they spoke around Ewen Copse and Railway Covert. Deer fled from the pack at Swallow Copse and after second-horsing huntsman Philip Hague took hounds down towards Severall's Copse where they picked up and we believe fox made their way back to Railway Covert, then up into Ewen Copse and over towards Swallow Copse. Hague let hounds search a thick, brambly hedgeline and the fox was flushed back in the direction of Ewen Copse just as Hague looked dejected, gave up, and called hounds away. Only our sab saw the fox so he got to make his escape without issue.

Back towards Severall's again (there was a lot of circling the same coverts today, no wonder supporters started to look bored!) and hounds did then pick up well - with the temperature dropping, scent conditions improve. Sabs ran inland from the road to the south of the covert as quad riders got excited about something they'd seen and alerted the hunt, hounds being brought to the area and picking up... heading in full cry towards the A429 as rush hour was beginning. Riders, quadbikers, terriermen, hunt staff all sped to the main road and loud rating and whipping was heard to stop the pack, before Hague gathered the hounds and returned to the meet.

This fox was one of at least two hunted by The Heythrop Hunt on Saturday 31st October.

Only moments before this fox was seen to safety, a Three Counties Hunt Sab was subjected to violent threats from the kennel huntsman who threatened to ride her down.

Fox hunting is happening all over the country and "trail" hunting has never existed.

Why is it still happening?
Because the law is providing hunts with loopholes and a smokescreen, meaning that wildlife is still being terrorised and killed.

We have waited long enough for a full ban on hunting with hounds. It's high time the government tightened the hunting laws and started protecting our wildlife.

Cotswold Hunt.
Saturday 31st October 2026.
Charlton Abbotts area. Opening meet.

After a morning at one of the last cub hunts this season at the Heythrop we went on to the first opening meet of the fox hunting season proper for 2026/27 for the packs we attend.

We found them at 13.00ish at Belas Knapp. They then drew blank in the rough covert south of Hanks Gorse then were heard in Breakneck Plantation. Then ran to Hawling and drew blank in the coverts from the middle of the land north of Hawling towards Hawling Lodge. Finished at 16.30.

A quiet afternoon. NB blank means no foxes found, nothing happens. If drags had been laid of course hounds would have been on the line of the scent laid.

North Cotswold Hunt

"You've got it on camera? Well it won't make a difference anyway, will it?!"

On Thursday the NCH met at a farm in Wormington to teach children about the tradition of illegally hunting foxes. As foot teams from 3C and Mendip Hunt Sabs arrived in the area, hounds were hunting Rushbrook Coppice. A fox fled to the north, spotted by a 3C/Mendip foot team who covered the line of the fox on both sides of the hedgeline he had run through, with the 3C sab then rating the pack when they came towards her on the line.

Huntsman gathered the pack and ran south, with sabs picking up on the hunt again near to Wormington Brake where they were in full cry on another line, running north once more. The drone picked up the pack marking at a hay barn, so one 3C sab stayed nearby to protect that hunted fox from being flushed back out to hounds whilst the remaining sabs stuck with the hunt as they circled between several other coverts, covering some ground and picking up at various points before giving up and heading back to the meet just after midday.

There was some other silliness from hunt members and supporters throughout the morning, all in front of the children present, some trying to grab sab cameras, others like Tim Pearce-May telling sabs that having footage of foxes being chased won't make a difference anyway, because apparently children should learn how to be smug and arrogant while breaking the law... Other followers have been reported to Operation Snap for using phones while driving, and driving dangerously close to sabs on public roads.

Opening meets are coming up in the next week, after our group have already attended 45 cubhunting meets so far this season.

Heythrop Hunt

What a way to spend Halloween! One of our foot sabs was in the field less than ten minutes before Josh, Heythrop kennel huntsman, threatened to "fu***ng ride [her] down" followed by Teddy, second whip and son of terrierman Ollie Street taking Josh's example and trying to follow suit.

Soon after a fox ran straight towards our sab, her stalkers James and Matteo, and a local walking his dogs. James reluctantly let the sab spray and said he'd "get on it" with regards to telling the hunt staff to call hounds off the line. A second fox was flushed from the nearby covert and hunt staff then encouraged the pack on to them, Josh stating "we've laid trails there" - even if that weren't laughable and was actually true, it would be pretty reckless for a hunt that was following false scents to encourage hounds into a field a fox had just run through seconds earlier. Huntsman Ollie Dale said nothing and just looked smug while Josh yelled at our sab to get on the footpath while aggressively blocking her with his horse... on the footpath.

The hunt drew through some more coverts near the meet before moving further inland, another sab having moved round to get eyes on them, and then James and Matteo lost the sab they were following at 09.54 - they didn't inform the hunt until 10.24 when a radio message was put out to hunt members asking them to keep an eye out for her, by which point she had been watching the hunt draw around Hungryhill and Washpool coverts for over twenty minutes. There was some more drawing around these coverts, and a very clear holloa at Broadwood, all caught on camera, before the hunt headed back to the meet just after midday and our sabs headed to the Cotswold Hunt opening meet where they largely drew blank while we were there 🤷‍♀️

We had intel on a number of hunt meets, all within less than an hour of us today. We obviously couldn't attend them all but very much appreciate people getting in touch, so please carry on sending in tip-offs! Our tip-off line is: 07891 639803

***Cub hunting season comes to an end over the next week as opening meets start where we sab'***
***We have managed to attend 43 cub hunts so far and two meets that were later confirmed as hound exercise events.***

The footage is from the Heythrop Hunt earlier in the season who met at Kirkham Farm on Saturday 12th September 2026, Upper Slaughter. Holding up, foxes running from hounds and hounds on the busy B4077 near Granny's Bank.

****Quiet morning ends with lost hounds****.

Ledbury Hunt.
Wednesday 28th October 2026.
Hunter’s Hall Castlemorton.

They first crossed the B4208 heading east drawing next to some young horses and foals who were galloping around for at least 20 minutes. Then it was on to the northern side of Drugger’s End and towards Keyse’s farm.

Hounds did riot at one point but were stopped by hunt staff. They were seen going near Walk farm and then were lost for a bit as the sab’ present wanted to not get too far from the car or what was Mark’s (Sam’s predecessor as huntsman) favourite bramble patch in the village of Castlemorton. As expected they came back towards it but ignored it and did a rough patch between Drugger’s End and Castlemorton by the B4028.

After a fairly quiet morning that all changed as hounds ran south and a couple were left behind including a lovely one called Beauty who was oblivious to traffic and took a while to get to safety. Fortunately there were traffic lights slowing down the traffic but it’s so common for hounds to do whatever hounds want to do on fast roads because fox hunts put them in that position and they have no idea about the danger they are in. Thankfully the whole pack (bar one howling back at the meet) were found hacking back with huntsman at 12.00.
