Looking to do something that's guaranteed to be loads of fun whilst also supporting a fantastic organisation factor in August? Volunteers needed for OrchardFest šŸ‘‡

Calling Local Volunteers For OrchardFest šŸŽ¶šŸŒ³

OrchardFest is back on Saturday 15th August, and we’re looking for friendly, hands‑on volunteers from the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas to help bring our accessible music festival to life.

If you enjoy live music, community spirit, and spending time outdoors, we’d love to have you on the team. There are plenty of ways to get involved. from helping behind the scenes or being in the heart of the action.

Volunteer roles include:
• Car‑parking support
• Stall and activity helpers
• Ticket desk and welcome team
• Site set‑up
• Post‑event tidy‑up

Available volunteer slots:
• Thurs 13th Aug – site prep (9am–3pm)
• Fri 14th Aug – site prep (9am–3pm)
• Sat 15th Aug – site prep (9am–1pm)
• Sat 15th Aug – event time (2pm–10:30pm)
• Sun 16th Aug – clear‑up (10am–2pm)
• Mon 17th Aug – clear‑up (10am–2pm)

Whether you can spare a whole day or just a few hours, your help makes a real difference — and it’s a brilliant way to support a local charity while enjoying a great community event.

If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.

We met loads of fabulous folks, chatted to lots of organisations and (thanks to kindness of the Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust team) were even relocated out of the rain! šŸ˜

Thanks so much to the GHC team for organising such a brilliant day.

If you'd like Go Volunteer Glos to attend your event, please get in touch via [email protected]

Mentor Link is currently looking for volunteer mentors in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury.

We spoke to Helen from Mentor Link to find out what volunteering as a mentor for children and young people is like...

Q: What does being a volunteer for Mentor Link involve?
Volunteering with Mentor Link usually involves giving 1–2 hours a week to spend time with a child or young person who would benefit from additional emotional support.

Mentors provide a safe, non-judgemental space where children can talk openly, build trust and develop confidence. Through listening, encouragement and regular support, volunteers help children improve their self-esteem, strengthen social skills and learn positive coping strategies for difficult situations.

The role is flexible, rewarding and focused on creating meaningful relationships that can make a lasting difference to a child’s life.
