The Men's World Cup kicked off yesterday, and while we prepare to cheer on England, we must also acknowledge the shocking rise in domestic violence statistics at this time.
Research shows that incidents of domestic violence increase by 38% when England lose a World Cup match, and by 26% when they win.
Football doesn't cause domestic abuse, abusers do.
If you need support contact the Derbyshire Domestic Abuse Helpline is open from 8am-10pm Monday to Friday.
