Crossroads Derbyshire (formerly High Peak Women's Aid) offers outreach, recovery and specialist services to adults, children and young people who are exposed to domestic abuse.

The Men's World Cup kicked off yesterday, and while we prepare to cheer on England, we must also acknowledge the shocking rise in domestic violence statistics at this time.

Research shows that incidents of domestic violence increase by 38% when England lose a World Cup match, and by 26% when they win.

Football doesn't cause domestic abuse, abusers do.

🏳️‍🌈 Pride Month is a celebration of who you are, the challenges you've overcome, and the freedom to be yourself 🏳️‍🌈

As we celebrate Pride this June, it's also important to acknowledge a conversation that often remains unseen: domestic abuse can affect anyone, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Abuse can happen regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or background. Yet many survivors face additional barriers to seeking help - fear of being outed, fear of judgment, or fear that their experiences won't be understood.

Behind the rainbow flags and celebrations, there are people carrying invisible wounds. People who deserve to be heard. People who deserve to be safe. People who deserve support without question 💜

This Pride, let's raise awareness, support survivors, and create spaces where everyone can thrive 🌈
