Putting the Community in the Centre - working together to make our community spaces affordable, accessible and inspirational

What is Community Use? Community Use is the team that works hard to ensure most of the Halls, Community Centres and Schools in Fife are available for everyone to enjoy learning, leisure, life and cultural events. Together with amazing partners we deliver a fantastic program

me of inclusive pursuits including physical activity & sport, performing arts, arts & crafts, cookery, modern languages, and vocational training. We also offer space for meetings, celebrations, and community events in both modern and historical buildings usually found in the heart of the Kingdom’s villages, towns and cities. Social Media House Rules - www.fife.gov.uk/HouseRules

Our social media channels feature a variety of information from our services and partners, keeping you informed and up to date with what's happening across Fife. We're here to help in any way that we can, and we will always aim to be supportive and respectful in our posts and any comments we respond to. We want our social media channels to be safe, healthy, and open places for discussion and the exchange of views and we have the following house rules to help support that.

- All users must comply with the social media platform's terms of use as well as our own terms of use
- We answer enquiries/messages as soon as possible within working hours
- We will remove, in whole or in part, posts that we feel are inappropriate – for example bullying or harassment - or discriminatory against any individual or group
- You are wholly responsible for any content you post including content you choose to share

We will remove messages (where function allows) and report and/or block users on our social media channels who post messages at us which we believe are:

- abusive or obscene
- deceptive or misleading
- in violation of any intellectual property rights, including copyright
- in violation of any law or regulation
- spam and off-topic content (persistent negative and/or abusive posts in which the aim is to provoke a response)
- promotional material, including links to external websites and promotions

Anyone repeatedly engaging with us using content or language which falls into the above categories will be blocked and/or reported to the associated social media platform. We must always remain politically neutral on social media which is why council officers are unable to reply to, endorse or engage with, any content that is of a party political nature. Political issues can be discussed with local councillors.

Our focus on St Andrews Town Hall continues and we're shining a light on Haydays Fife . charity number Sco45160!

For more than 24 years, Haydays has been bringing people together and creating a real buzz in the Town Hall. Run by a dedicated team of volunteers, it’s a warm and welcoming space for people over 50 to stay active, meet others and try something a bit different.

Sessions are packed with activity: Art, crafting and stained glass to salsa, chair yoga and tai chi, alongside games, music and plenty of social groups. There’s just as much value in the chat over a coffee as there is in the classes, with a friendly café space right at the heart of it all.

It’s easy to come along and get involved! Find out more: https://haydaysfife.co.uk/

Thanks to everyone at Haydays for helping us showcase St Andrews Town Hall as our current Centre of Attention!

Shout out to some of our volunteers at the Lomond Centre in Glenrothes. 💙👏

A big thank you to the team from Gather and Give, who run our Warm Welcome kitchen every Wednesday and Saturday from 12–1pm, creating a welcoming space for people to come together over a meal.

Special mention to Louisa (in the orange top), who has been volunteering for many years. As a carer for her husband, who has a disability, she really values the time she spends volunteering and enjoys being part of the kitchen each week. She’s also recently joined a sewing class, giving her another way to take time for herself and connect with others.

🌟 We also want to highlight Maja, who volunteers at our junior art class every Monday and Friday. Maja (15) has been volunteering since March this year to build confidence, gain experience and meet new people. She’s really enjoying it, and the Art tutor Michelle says she’s doing very well.

Thanks to all our volunteers at the centre who make such a positive difference each week.

We're continuing to celebrate our Community Use volunteers!

Beth Wilson has been leading dance classes at Levenmouth Academy Community Use for the past four years. After getting involved through holiday programmes, she found her passion for teaching and has since gone on to qualify as a Freestyle Dance Teacher. She’s also choreographed for local productions, including the Buckhind Players pantomime. Beth is all about helping young people build confidence and express themselves through dance.

🩰 Beth’s class runs Wednesdays, 6–7pm (P1–P7)

Joe Deighan started out volunteering at holiday programmes, completing over 200 Saltire hours before supporting sessions across Community Use. At just 16, he secured a role as a Handball Instructor with Active Fife. Alongside his Sports Coaching studies, Joe now works across a range of roles in Community Use and is passionate about helping others get active.

🏀 Multi-sport at Levenmouth Academy (Mondays)
🤾‍♂️ Handball at Dunfermline High School (Thursdays)

Community Use is celebrating some of our amazing volunteers this week.

FRAPPY is a youth club that has been running at Waid Community Use since 2003, welcoming P7-S2 young people every Friday evening (term-time) from 7-9pm for the small cost of £2 (or £1 for Astro only).

A big shout-out to the staff and volunteers who make it such a welcoming and fun place each week. Special mention to:
⭐ Aiden Bruce – volunteering for 18 months and already making a big impact at just 15.
⭐ Ruby Tarvit – started at 14 and later moved into a Leisure Attendant role with us.
⭐ Eliott Hartley – racked up 500+ Saltire hours before becoming a Sports Instructor and returning to the team.
⭐ Kerr Bowman – also started at 14 and now helps deliver sessions as a Sports Instructor.

What’s great is that some of these volunteers were once FRAPPY members themselves. It’s a brilliant example of the confidence, skills and opportunities volunteering can create.

Thanks to all our volunteers, past and present, who keep FRAPPY going each week.

If you're interested in volunteering with Community Use at any of our centres, email us at [email protected].
