This week we were sad to say "see ya later" to oor Clare. Who has provided much needed counselling here at Muirhead Outreach Project to some of our parents. Clare has been a huge part of our service over the past 2 years. And as sad as we are, we are also delighted that Clare's business in Perth has grown. She promises she won't be a stranger!

What kind of world could we build if we were more relationally aware?

Yesterday, I attended a thought-provoking seminar exploring Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and relational practice. The collaboration between the Leathersellers' Foundation and Dr Suzanne Zeedyk highlighted the importance of moving from understanding ACEs to putting relational approaches into practice, and how the ‘science of connection’ can help address the lasting impacts of early childhood trauma.

I was honoured to be invited by Dr Suzanne Zeedyk to share the work we do at Muirhead Outreach Project. Relationships are at the heart of our approach: we share knowledge and support families to build stronger connections so they can thrive.

Speaking to a room full of professionals was a step outside my comfort zone, particularly as my previous public speaking experience had been with groups of around ten people. Despite the nerves, I welcomed the opportunity to share a family’s testimony about the value of relational practice.

I came away with plenty to reflect on—and a personal goal to keep building my confidence in public speaking.

FREE WORKSHOP

Are you a parent, carer, or family member supporting a neurodivergent loved one?

Led by team members with both professional therapeutic specialism in neurodivergence and real, lived experience raising autistic children, this workshop bridges clinical knowledge with everyday family life.

- Up-to-date, neurodiversity-affirming psychoeducation
- Understanding sensory needs & nervous system regulation
- Modern frameworks for communication & self-advocacy
- Practical strategies for everyday life & major transitions

Thursday 19th November 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Saturday 21st November 10:30am – 12:30pm

We have scheduled 3 separate workshops to fit around different lifestyles, these will be the same workshop repeated so there's no need to attend all, just one!

Children are welcome to attend with you! Please note that formal childcare isn't provided, but it is a relaxed, family friendly space where everyone can feel comfortable being themselves. (We have WiFi and snacks!)

Our Connected Parenting Programme is a vital 8 part, trauma informed lifeline. It doesn't just help you respond to challenges, it helps heal households and calm nervous systems. By teaching emotional regulation, de-escalation, parenting with P.L.A.C.E. It equips families with the tools needed in Creating Connections & Empowering Families to Thrive.
