Is your charity up to date with the latest data protection requirements?

Recent changes under the Data (Use and Access) Act mean that all charities must have a process in place for handling data protection complaints by 19 June 2026. Ensuring your organisation is compliant is essential to meeting your legal responsibilities and maintaining trust with your supporters.

There are also important changes to direct marketing rules. Charities may now be able to contact people via e-mail, text message, or social media without prior consent in certain circumstances - but only where specific legal requirements are met.

Now is the time to review your policies, procedures, and communications practices to make sure your organisation remains compliant and informed.

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has published guidance to help charities understand and implement these changes.
