A little of your time could make a BIG difference!

It's , and we're looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to join Kingdom Companions and help tackle loneliness and social isolation across Fife.

Could you spare a couple of hours a week or fortnight to help someone:
* Build confidence to attend a local group?
* Rediscover a favourite hobby?
* Feel more confident getting out and about?

As a volunteer befriender, you'll offer regular, one-to-one companionship and encouragement for 4-6 months, helping someone take positive steps towards reconnecting with their community.

What's in it for you? You'll develop valuable skills, build your own confidence, meet new people and enjoy the feel-good factor of making a real difference.

You'll receive full training and ongoing support, travel and out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed, and we'll aim to match you with someone in your local area.

Update: Third sector commissioning for children’s services

Following constructive discussions between Fife Voluntary Action and Fife Council, a number of changes and commitments have been agreed in response to concerns raised by voluntary sector organisations about the commissioning process for Children, Families and Justice Social Work services.

These include:
- Funding commitment: At least £4.251 million will be available for commissioning from April 2027.
- Review of proposals: The proposed commissioning arrangements, including their scope, coverage and funding allocations, will be reviewed, with FVA directly involved.
- Extended deadline: The submission deadline has been extended to 18 December.
- Clearer communication: A new FAQ process will be introduced, with FVA’s involvement, to help organisations get consistent answers to their questions.

A further meeting has been arranged to discuss outstanding issues, and there is still scope for further improvements.

FVA will continue to keep members of the Voluntary Sector Children’s Services Forum updated as discussions progress.

Application deadline extended: Head of Employability

Could you help shape the future of employability services across Fife?

There’s still time to apply for our Head of Employability role at Fife Voluntary Action — we have extended the closing date to 4 November.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership for the third sector employability sector, build strong partnerships across Fife and influence how services and funding can improve employment outcomes for local people.

You’ll also lead a team working across employability, lived experience and digital inclusion, while representing the sector at strategic level.

35 hours per week
£40,000 per year

Fife-wide

If you have experience of working with third sector employability organisations, a strong understanding of employability policy and excellent partnership skills, we’d love to hear from you.
