Thanks to the lads at Merityre Specialists little Chalfont who looked after us this week as we had to replace tyres on both our Incident Control Unit and the Incident Support Unit. These vehicles are operational 24x7 and key to us being able to support Thames Valley Police in responding to missing persons call-outs. Merittyres made it so easy for us this week to make sure we put the best tyres on the vehicles, and scheduled us in for fitting one vehicle at a time so we stayed operational. Thanks also to the members of the team who took the time to get the vehicles down for the tyre fitting. Bucks Search & Rescue is a charity operated by volunteers so not only do we have to manage our funds carefully, but we need to ensure we are safe at all times, for everyone’s sake.

Bit of a weekend…We allocate a few social events for the team across the year. The summer BBQ looked a bit different this year. Having been moved previously to accommodate team admin the day finally arrived on Saturday, however BSAR doing what they do best decided to rearrange quite quickly from a BBQ to cooking on the range in our HQ kitchen for safety reasons given the current climate. It presented lots of challenges, a call to Japan, the best manual smoke extractor, and a sweat and smoke box for about 2 hours. But we made it, and then the CALLOUT came. Turns out it is the quickest HQ has been cleaned and tidied after a BBQ, thanks to the team and their family members who supported those who attended the call. So many thanks for people who spent time organising this, shopping, prepping, cooking, extracting and most of all for some really good company.

Our thoughts are with friends at family at this difficult time.

⚠️ Officers searching for a missing man from Buckingham have sadly found a body in Shenley Wood, Milton Keynes.

Although formal identification has not yet taken place, we believe this to be Joseph, who also goes by Joe, aged 50.

His family has been informed, and our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the Buckinghamshire Coroner.
