Last weekend our NNSE committee member Susan Liverman of The Kindful was in Corby representing NNSE and social enterprise at the Corby Pride in Place launch.

We love getting out to different places around the county and having a chance to meet with members old, new or aspiring. Shout out to the guys from Corby Dodgeball and the Autumn Centre - both fairly new Corby based NNSE members who were there.

If you know of any other not for profits based in Corby looking to grow their earned income and be less dependent on donations please pass on our contact details- that’s how we are here to help at NNSE!

Or if you know of any Corby businesses interested in connecting with local social enterprises/community organisations eg as part of their ESG or social value aims please pass on the word - our Friends of NNSE scheme is designed for them.

Coming soon: The Teamwork Trust Pop-up Shop! 🎉

We’re opening our very own pop-up shop in Newlands Shopping Centre, Kettering, from 16th to 21st November, 9am till 4pm.

Everything on the shelves will be created by our members through our My Enterprise programme.

There will be jewellery, laser cut coasters, Christmas gifts, keyrings, t-shirts, mugs, bags, bookmarks, and personalised items made to order.

Our members will be running the shop themselves, too. They’re designing the uniform, setting up displays, serving customers and handling the tills, and every shift is real retail and customer service experience that counts on a CV.

We can’t wait! And we’d love to welcome you 💙

As part of our advocacy work for social enterprises and the wider VCSE we are keen at NNSE to back these recommendations. Like many others across the country who support social enterprise resilience and opportunities, we want our sector to thrive; taking part in this survey and adding our name to this letter was an obvious action.

Our myriad of small to large social enterprises and other VCSEs here in North Northants do not necessarily have the time (or understanding/interest) to delve deeply into government policy changes affecting social enterprises. So we at NNSE are here to represent you and flag up any easy and key opportunities to have an input.

Ensuring that the new forthcoming government guidance to commissioners really benefits social enterprises and doesn’t reduce opportunities will trickle down benefits to all of us in the longer term. Requirements such as ‘diverse supply chains’ in government tenders need to be maintained as they encourage contractors to ‘buy social’ and work with SEs and VCSEs.

So whilst our members can get in with their busy busy day to day amazing work, we at NNSE will continue to be a voice for you with our national partners at Social Enterprise UK.

Aspire North Northants

It's clear that social enterprises have strong feelings about the recent government changes to social value.

Today we’re sending a letter to First Secretary of State, Louise Haigh MP and Mark Ferguson MP in the Cabinet Office that represents the views of social enterprises which responded to the survey we published.

Supply chain diversity and reserving contracts for £1m or less for VCSEs and SMEs saw strong backing. The letter also includes recommendations for the government on the changes before they roll out guidance to commissioners.
