Farewell from FAYAP
After 23 years of dedicated youth work and countless memorable projects, from our daily Lunch Club to Amplifier, Art and Drama sessions, Friday Youth Club, the Pageant Field drop-in and iCreate. FAYAP will now be closing its doors. Our long‑standing trustees, whose own children have long since grown up, are retiring, and despite extensive efforts in recent years, we have been unable to find enough new parents or community members to continue running the charity.
Throughout our history, we have worked hard to offer young people a wide range of after‑school clubs, groups and drop‑in opportunities. Most of these took place in our Youth and Art Centre on the Thomas Mills High School site, with additional outreach in town and at the Pageant Field. However, needs and demographics have shifted. Youth work in Framlingham now requires new people, fresh ideas and parents who are connected to the current high‑school community.
Our active projects will begin to wind down during the Summer Term. The Pageant Field drop‑in on Fridays and the Amplifier project will continue until the start of the summer holidays.
There is, however, reason for optimism. We have been in positive discussions with Thomas Mills High School, who have expressed interest in taking on the Amplifier project. The CYDS Project in Leiston is exploring the possibility of continuing the Pageant Field drop‑in. Hour Community is also considering offering structured after‑school activities for young people at its new location, Hour Place (formerly the Westbury Centre) on Fairfield Road, conveniently situated closer to the town centre.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been part of FAYAP’s journey: our wonderful staff and volunteers, parents and students, trustees and committee members, and of course the many generous funders and supporters who made our work possible. We could not have achieved any of this without you.
