Fortrose and Rosemarkie Community Council FRCC is a locally elected body that represents the people of those villages and undertakes certain functions within the community

Its main statutory duty is to act as a consultee in the planning and licensing process but it also discusses many other local issues such as roads, footpaths, litter, dog fouling, playgrounds,street lighting, etc. The first fifteen minutes of the meeting are made available to members of the public who wish to address the council on any local matters. GREEN SPACES

Highland Council are currently seeking views on the draft Greenspace Biodiversity Management Strategy 2026-2030 that is out for public consultation until the 4th of October.

The strategy was developed to ensure Highland Council are consistently identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance biodiversity across the Council estate alongside the many other functions greenspaces serve. We know how important greenspaces are to their local communities and we invite you to read and comment on the current draft Strategy so that we can ensure communities across Highland have input into shaping the future management of their greenspaces as well as how Highland Council seek to address the climate and ecological emergencies.

The consultation can be found on the Council's Citizen Engagement system at this link: https://engage.highland.gov.uk/en-GB/projects/greenspace-biodiversity-management-strategy-2026-2030-public-consultation. It closes on 4th October 2026.

There are two planning applications for local developments that we are having to consider before our next meeting (on Sep 2 in Gordon Memorial Hall). They are:
* sauna: 26/02137/FUL - this makes changes to the previous application; note that it still sits within the SSSI and Special Landscape Area
* overflow car park: 26/02844/FUL
There is not much time to respond if you wish to do so.
