Volunteers Week 2026

Meet the team.

1stLT/XO

S/Lt (SCC) Suzie Marlborough RNR joined the Sea Cadets at Oxford unit in Southern area in 1991. During her time as a cadet she spent time on the old TS Royalist as well as doing as many different courses as she possible could. She transferred to Bournemouth Unit in 2014, then back to Oxford in 2017 before moving to Evesham unit in 2019. She has done many roles during her time in cadets. She has done her Gold D of E. She is a qualified seamanship instructor as well as a rowing instructor. Two highlights of her time in cadets is being in the diamond pageant on the River Thames in London and also the youth Olympics in Weymouth.

Today marks the start of Volunteers week, so meet the team….

Chief Petty Officer (SCC) Mike Bircham

A former cadet of Evesham unit from 1998-2002 CPO Bircham served ten years in the Royal Navy starting as a submariner before transferring to surface fleet after four years, in which he served onboard HM Ships Exeter, Edinburgh, York and Dragon. He also had a couple of deployments to Falkland Islands, the Mediterranean including a short trip into the Black Sea, two trips to London for the London boat show and a James Bond book launch. The Chief rejoined the SCC as CFAV with Portsmouth Sea Cadets and held a few posts with Portsmouth unit and within southern area before moving back home and transferring back to Evesham unit in September 2024 and became the OiC in August last year.
CPO (SCC) Bircham holds various qualifications from Seamanship and Range Officer to being an RYA Powerboat instructor.

D’YA HEAR THERE!

On the 25th May we’ll be hosting a fundraising sale.
We have a wide selection of books available, bird houses, games, and other bits and pieces available.
Funds rasied go staright back into the unti to support cadets with equipment and keepig our building safe for all who attend.
Were based in south littleton next to Unipart
So come on by and meet some of the cadets and the adult team.
Dont forget were still looking for new volunteere to join the team so if your interreted in joining us come find out some more about us.

Been a busy week for the unit, firstly we had our first night at our boat station getting boats prepped and ready to go afloat for the summer and then saturday we were at Evesham Rivers Leisure Centre conducting swim tests and happy to say all the cadets passed, our thanks to the team at the lesiure centre for their support and accomating our needs.
