part 1
Around 3 months ago , Giftwood had their meeting about what they wanted to do to make their enterprise better.
The two main suggestions apart from a bigger biscuit barrel and more tea breaksđ¤Ł, was their own vehicle and name it âSilver Foxâ or a better room to work in.
I had to say no to another vehicle, but I totally agreed with them they needed new premises.
We looked at possibly going offsite, but they didnât want this as whilst they work in their group they do still like to be with their friends.
So I had a lightbulb moment, an idea came and Giftwoodâs new workshop became a vision , thatâs now become reality. Giftwood truly gives our service users a sense of purpose. They take immense pride in upcycling donated wood, old furniture, and salvaged timber, transforming it into items they can showcase and sell. Attending local sales, meeting members of the public, and explaining how they made each piece has been transformative for their confidence and social skills. Restoring the benches at Badsey church is another project they are very proud of.
They have done everything inside the building themselves ie painting it, going to get second hand cabinets for it, making their own racking all designed by them. Theyâve even managed, which must have been the hardest bit ,to get a kettle and refreshments in there!đ¤Ł
We could not have achieved this without the donations from you very generous people, it really is appreciated.
Once the workshop is completed we will of course be having an opening party. đ.
Darren Grosvenor you and your men never cease to amaze us at what youâve created and the speed you have done it. You are always there for us, and we truly appreciate it. You have let the service users where safe join in the build of their workshop which again gives them a sense of achievement.
We certainly would be lost without you. â¤ď¸
Barely Hikers , what you did to help raise the funds was amazing. The three peaks challenge, was a challenge but Harry and Ant you smashed it and in doing so raised ÂŁ2765!! , not forgetting Jon and George for driving you everywhere đâ¤ď¸.
Thank you to everyone that sponsored them.
We were also very lucky to have a grant from the National Lottery .
Kerry and Steve from Serendipity you both are the kindest people and so generous to Giftwood. Your donations to them save them hundreds of pounds, again like Darren you are always there for them. â¤ď¸.
Jewsons Evesham again thank you very much for all your support, Iâm sure you must see Darren coming and think âoh no what does he want now!âđ¤Ł.
Everyone thatâs supported this project , we canât thank you enough. Look out for the opening party date , where we can show you around and thank you in person. Iâm sure I will have forgotten people to thank in this post, which I apologise but it certainly doesnât mean we arenât grateful to you. â¤ď¸
