The world famous brass and entertainment contest: Wychavon Festival of Brass is an annual contest, held in late October/early November each year, at The De Montford School, Evesham. A British Open qualifying contest, we host 5 sections on the same site and day with food, drink and a great sense of community. We are grateful for the continued support and assistance of: The Elmley Foundation, Evesha
m Town Council, The Rowlands Trust, Brass Bands England, New Moon Insurance, John Martin's Charity, The Fleece Inn, Bretforton, Ev-Entz and a host of local, regional and national businesses. The Wychavon Festival of Brass was the result of an initiative developed by the Vale of Evesham Commerce and Tourism Association which, in the late 80’s, was seeking to raise the profile of the town. An exciting brass band contest was seen as an interesting and novel way of attracting visitors and offering the local population the opportunity to hear and experience some fabulous brass music! Since then, WFB has continued to grow and develop, settling in it's current home since 2013. Over thirty years have elapsed since the first contest and the festival goes from strength to strength! It regularly undertakes new projects like the development of a Youth Festival, and seeks to sustain itself and interest in the brass band movement generally through collaborative efforts with its other partners in staging concerts and other events beyond our annual contest from time to time.
