We started on Tuesday because so many of you wanted to do something! What an amazing run of bat walks for International Bat Weekend. Yes the weather was iffy. Yes the bats played hide and seek but it was still fun to meet y'all.
Summary of information - Magenta Bat5's from gardennature dot co dot uk. Then Easyfundraising for FREE dosh when you shop. And if you wanna join our monthly mealworm club. That's a quid a month 😂 and remember people - water down low and up high for all different sorts of wildlife

Please be aware that if it is raining at 7.45pm leading up to the 8pm Bat Walk then its highly likely to be cancelled. Bat Walks are no fun in the rain. So fingers crossed it dries up!

Tues 25th with Tewkesbury Nature Reserve book via them
Weds 26th with Beckford Nature Reserve book via them
Thurs 27th in discussions 😉
Friday 28th Evesham Abbey Park book with us
Sat 29th Pershore Abbey Park book with us

Suggested donation £5/pp (cash on night) to cover batteries, mealworms and stuff. Wear sensible shoes and clothing. Bats not guaranteed. Entertainment however is. Dogs on leads. Kids with responsible person and no blame on us for late night grumpiness. Weather will cancel at short notice.

We are planning bat walks for Bat Conservation Trust Bat Conservation International ... International Bat Weekend ... so keep your diaries free for 27th - 30th August as we're trying to do five locations!

Is there anyone home from uni for the summer that would like to quote to paint our flight cage for us? We have the paint but you'd need your own brush and maybe a ladder. Would like to support a local student (or pair) if possible

Did you know?:
* Bats are the uks true only Flying mammal. They don't just glide like flying squirrels they use specially adapted wings to actually fly.
* Some Bat species can live for over 30years
* Different Species have different flying styles. Some dart quickly through open spaces, others weave their way through dense woodland

The Common Pipistrelle is a tiny night flyer and insect eating machine!
It can eat around 3000 insects in one night including midges and mosquitos.
The 'Common Pip' is one of the first bats to emerge at dusk, making them the species most often seen in parks and gardens . They often roost in buildings, tree holes and even behind fascia boards!
Females birth one pup each summer which can fly after 3-4 weeks.
