If you're enjoying David Olusoga's latest series of A House Through Time, you may be interested in our illustrated lecture The People of the Copped Hall Estate on Sunday 4 October at 1pm. Tickets: ยฃ10

Dr Alan White will present the research he has undertaken on the people who lived and worked on the Copped Hall Estate from the late 1860s to the early 1900s. The main focus of this talk will be the farms on the estate, and those who worked them.

We know quite a lot about the former owners of Copped Hall - the Conyers, the Wythes - because society deemed them 'important people'. Less is known about ordinary people, whose lives are often overlooked in social historical research. As Olusoga says, '...history is shaped as much by those rendered invisible as by those remembered.'
