The Scratching Post Cat Rescue Website http://scratchingpost.co.uk. The Scratching Post is a cat rescue charity based in Waltham Abbey & Cheshunt, Herts but covering a much wider area.

I no longer post these dumped cats on here as it's opened a flood gate for others to think it's a good idea! We have no room! We have room for 60 cats. we now have almost 200 under our wing! This person came in today to dump 6 cats! The female was really aggressive and displayed intimating behaviour, calling us c # # because we explained we've no where to put them. She put our collegues in fear of their own safety as she attempted to physicaly abuse. She gave fake details, which is ok because we have her car no plate. This revolting person is actually a breeder, creating more problems for rescues. The only thing we can do is invest in w**e racks to poke all these dumped cats into little holes! Now I've posted this I'm guessing by tomorrow there will be more at our gate!

Update on Tommy.

We now have official evidence of the owner physically abusing him at the station platform. He will not be returning to this person. However I hope this highlights the lack of support for rescues. The police stated we were to return him as he is the property of the owner to do with as this person wishes. Even though he is not microchipped. No doubt I will be in trouble, yet again with the police. But I hope this case is an eye opener to everyone who read and made comments.

This is Tommy.

His owner was reported to be hitting and abusing him at Tottenham Hale Station platform. I'm guessing because he was struggling and frightened under her coat with the noise. The police were called and the woman, went to hospital and the cat taken to a vets to check for injuries.

We took Tommy in. Now the owner is demanding him back.

Because cats come under the property law, we are obliged to hand Tommy back to his abusive owner!
