Everyone is welcome 🤗

This summer, climate change has felt much closer to home. England has experienced exceptionally hot, dry weather, with half the country declared in drought and the Government warning that the parched landscape is increasing the risk of wildfires.

Understanding what is happening can feel confusing — and worrying. Scientists even use the term “solastalgia” to describe the distress we can feel when the environment around us changes or is threatened.

Talking about these issues together can help us understand what is happening, how we feel about it, and what we can do.

The Briefing is a filmed version of an event held in November 2025 which brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians at Westminster. Speakers include academics from Oxford, UCL, Manchester, Exeter, and Newcastle Universities, all speaking to their particular areas of research expertise. Showings of the film are taking place across the country to help local communities understand what is happening and discuss how to respond.
