Our Story
We are a vibrant, inclusive community garden in Loughton that brings people together in a safe and supportive outdoor space to grow organic vegetables. Community food growing improves access to healthy, organic food, promotes health and wellbeing, supports a sustainable environment and strengthens the local community.
Everyone is welcome regardless of age, ability or background to come and take part. Volunteer days are held every week on a drop-in basis on Wednesdays 1030am - 3pm and Saturdays 10am -2pm. There are a range of gardening activities that you can take part in and we provide lunch and refreshments. No experience needed, all you need to do is just turn up, wear sturdy shoes (as the ground is uneven) and be willing to get stuck in!
The garden provides opportunities to learn new skills, get active outdoors and make new friends. We also hold community events and training courses to ensure that members of the local community have lots of different ways to engage and be part of the project.
GROW Community Garden is a project of the local charity, Beyond Ourselves. It is run by volunteers from the local community who have transformed a derelict site in Loughton that was covered in the brambles and fly-tipped rubbish into a beautiful outdoor space for the local community. We are immensely grateful for the support of Loughton Town Council, Epping Forest District Council and the Royal Horticulture Society.
