Ellon Castle Gardens is a charitable trust run by volunteers to restore the gardens and historical monuments for the local community. Dogs on leads welcome.

Entry fee is £5 for non-members. Membership, opening times, events available via the website. The objects of the Trust are:-
(a) to promote and advance heritage, culture and environmental protection or improvement for the public benefit, in particular (but without limitation) by restoring, maintaining, permanently preserving, and making accessible to the public the Scheduled Ancient Monument which is Ellon Castle Gardens, in order to conserve and facilitate access to a place of historical interest and encourage interest in local history while also encouraging the conservation of the natural environment for the benefit of the local community and the wider public through the promotion of gardening, plant management and conservation works in relation to Ellon Castle Gardens or any other similar gardens which operate in order to advance heritage (“heritage gardens”);
(b) to advance education in relation to heritage gardens, by educating, advising and encouraging members of the public in relation to matters relating to heritage gardens;
(c) to promote heritage gardens at all levels of cultural and educational life in Scotland and elsewhere, and to advance community development by increasing or promoting the involvement of individuals in community activity through the provision or promotion of heritage gardens

🌱 The Just Transition Fund provides grants to eco-friendly projects who win a large share of the public vote, so your help is critical. We want to add 10 extra benches and 4 more picnic tables, all made from recycled plastic which is durable and needs minimal maintenance.
🌳 Our aim is to provide seating for many more visitors to enjoy the benefits of spending time amongst nature.

Thanks to all who came to our Spooky Halloween Trail last night! It was great to see so many of you having fun. We heard screams of fright and laughter echoing across Ellon Castle Gardens! We'd love to see your photos if you have some to share.
Well done to our amazing team of volunteers for entering into the spirit. We couldn't run these events without them.
Special thanks to Annie's Tearoom Limited for keeping us all warm with their delicious hot chocolate and cakes.
And it was lovely to see a curious cat taking part in the event. I think we interrupted his/her nightly wander through the Gardens with all our Halloween nonsense!

🍂 We are closing at 1pm today, Saturday 24th October, due to strong wind this afternoon.
‼️ Storm Boelo will bring 60mph winds on Sunday 25th October, so Ellon Castle Gardens will be closed for the day for everyone's safety.
⚠️ Please note that any tree can drop branches or topple in strong wind, so take care if you venture out anywhere.

🍂 Saturday 24th looks good for a morning visit to the Gardens, but the wind is forecast to get strong in the afternoon, so we may have to close early. Please check our page for updates before visiting.

What a beautiful autumn day today at Ellon Castle Gardens! The trees are turning golden and we still have plenty of scented roses in bloom.
It's been great to see so many children enjoying our activities in the first week of the school holidays. We're open from 10am to 4pm 6 days a week (closed Mondays) until the end of October. Then open weekends-only in November.
We look forward to seeing you! 🍂🌳🏰🐿️
