🌟 A Young Cadet Making a Difference! 🌟

We’re incredibly proud to share a lovely example of one of our young cadets showing kindness, care and compassion when it mattered.

10-year-old Toby Adams, a Year 6 pupil at Loud Junior School and attending MTC Stockbridge, was out playing with friends after school when he witnessed a younger child fall off his bike near a rockery at the park.

Seeing that the child was upset and crying, Toby didn't simply walk away. Instead, he went over to check that he was okay and stayed with him until his grown-up arrived.

The child’s grown-up thanked Toby for his help, and it was lovely to hear that the little boy seemed more settled and comfortable after Toby had taken the time to reassure him.

Sometimes, making a difference doesn't mean doing something extraordinary. It means noticing when someone needs help, taking the time to check they're okay, and showing kindness when it matters most. ❤️

Toby's actions are a wonderful example of the values we encourage in our cadets: compassion, responsibility and looking out for others.

👏 Well done, Toby! You should be very proud of yourself. We certainly are!

We are incredibly proud and honoured to have received this letter of recognition from Calvin Bailey MBE MP, acknowledging the hard work, dedication and positive impact of Marine Training Corps Derby within our local community.

During the first-ever Cadets Week, it means a great deal to have our efforts recognised, particularly our recent community litter picks and the commitment shown by our cadets and adult volunteers.

At the MTC, we are passionate about giving young people opportunities to build confidence, develop life skills, learn teamwork, make lasting friendships and become positive role models within their communities.

None of this would be possible without our amazing volunteers, whose time, effort and dedication help make a real difference every week.

🇬🇧 NATIONAL CADET WEEK – CELEBRATING OUR VOLUNTEERS & CADETS! 🇬🇧

This National Cadet Week, we want to shine a spotlight on the incredible volunteers and cadets who make organisations like the MTC what they are.

Volunteering isn’t just about giving your time — it’s about giving young people opportunities, confidence, skills, friendships and memories that can last a lifetime.
Our volunteers give up their own time to support, guide and encourage our cadets, helping them grow, challenge themselves and discover what they are capable of. 👏

And our cadets give back too — getting involved in community projects, supporting local events, learning new skills and becoming positive members of their communities.

To every volunteer who turns up, gets stuck in and makes a difference, and every cadet who gives their all — THANK YOU! ❤️

We're looking for volunteers across the country.

Marine Training Corps is a youth organisation for young people aged 9 to 17, and we have active volunteer vacancies around the country.

We have roles at every level, so you can get involved locally and grow from there.

Local unit roles:
- Unit Leaders and Unit Officers, to run a local unit and look after the cadets
- Instructors, to teach skills like first aid, navigation, fieldcraft and drill
- Unit Support Volunteers, to help with the admin, records and paperwork that keep a unit running
- Parents and supporters, to help with fundraising and events

Area roles:
- Roles that support and oversee a group of units, such as area officers, training officers and quartermasters

Regional roles:
- Roles that coordinate and support several areas, for people who want to help shape how MTC runs across a wider part of the country

You don't need a background in the armed forces or the cadets, and you don't need to wear a uniform to get involved. Full training is provided, and every volunteer goes through an enhanced DBS check.

Every week our cadets get to try things many of them wouldn't otherwise get the chance to, from first aid and navigation to outdoor challenges and weekend camps. The adults who make that happen are volunteers like you.

Day 4 of Annual Camp was another unforgettable day for our cadets, packed with challenge, teamwork and plenty of determination.
The day saw cadets take part in target shooting, developing focus, discipline and confidence, before moving on to river crossings and cold-water training alongside Ant Middleton.
Stepping into the cold water tested everyone both mentally and physically, pushing cadets well outside their comfort zones while teaching them the importance of staying calm, supporting one another and never giving up. Another incredible day of learning, laughter and achievement—creating memories and experiences our cadets will carry with them for years to come!

Operation Sniper '2026'

Operation Sniper was an unforgettable MTC shooting camp, packed with challenge, teamwork and opportunities to build confidence. From Sh***un, Target shooting and Ai***ft to Fieldcraft and manoeuvres, every activity encouraged our cadets to step outside their comfort zones, work together and develop valuable skills. It was a fantastic camp filled with determination, discipline and plenty of memorable moments, showing once again that with the right attitude, teamwork and a willingness to learn, our cadets can achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Annual Camp 2026 – Days 2 & 3

Days 2 and 3 of Annual Camp were absolutely amazing! The cadets got stuck into a packed programme of adventurous training (AT) and fieldcraft, putting their teamwork, resilience and determination to the test.

A huge highlight was having Ant Middleton with us, bringing his experience, motivation and challenges to the camp. The cadets pushed themselves, stepped outside their comfort zones and created memories they’ll never forget.

Two incredible days of teamwork, challenges, laughter and personal achievement — exactly what Annual Camp is all about! 💪🔥

Marine Training Corps is a CIC non profit dedicated to youth development across the UK. We are seeking a National Funding Officer to help secure the financial stability of the organisation and expand opportunities for cadets nationwide.

What You’ll Do
• Lead national funding applications
• Support area and unit teams with local funding bids
• Build sponsored partnerships with businesses
• Develop funding guides, templates, and training
• Strengthen MTC’s long term sustainability

What You Bring
• Strong bid writing and communication skills
• Confidence engaging businesses and funders
• Understanding of CIC non profit funding
• Organised, proactive, and deadline focused
