And just like that, the school holidays are over!

We packed plenty into our final week, with trips to Solar Eclipse, COMA at the Festival, Bonnie & Wild, a comedy show and food at the Festival, bringing an amazing summer programme to a close.

We have one final senior group this Friday from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Next week, while our main hall and other areas of the centre are being repainted, we’ve still got a couple of Festival shows to enjoy.

We’ll then take the following week off to evaluate our summer programme and plan for the term ahead before our groups return week beginning 31st August.

Then it’s time for the BER months. Who’s ready? 👀

None of it happens without our staff, volunteers and junior youth workers, or the support of Cash for Kids Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife & Falkirk and The National Lottery Community Fund.

A massive thank you to Capital Cars for their incredibly generous donation of £1,000 towards taking our Junior Youth Workers to Leeds Festival!

Throughout the summer, our Junior Youth Workers have volunteered at our Holiday Club, helping us support hundreds of children from their own local community and allowing us to offer more spaces to local families.

They’ve been positive role models, supported younger children, helped with activities, food, setting up and tidying away, and stepped up wherever they’ve been needed.

What people don’t always see is the work that goes on behind the scenes. The patience, commitment and responsibility they’ve shown throughout the summer has been brilliant, and they’ve played a huge part in making our programme possible.

Leeds Festival will be another fantastic experience for a group of young people who have given so much to their community this summer.

A huge thank you to Capital Cars Edinburgh for recognising their contribution and helping make this possible.

What a way to finish our Summer Programme!

Yesterday we welcomed 83 children and 12 youth volunteers for one final added extra session, and it was a brilliant way to round off an incredible summer.

A huge thank you to the performers from Sophie’s Surprise 29th from underbelly at Edinburgh Fringe for coming along and delivering a fantastic performance and interactive workshop for the children.

We also had face painting, glitter tattoos, hot dogs with halal options, plenty of snacks and goodies, and loads happening throughout the session.

It was the perfect ending to what has been an amazing summer at Goodtrees, with so many children and young people taking part, trying new things and making memories along the way.

Last week at Goodtrees 💚

Another brilliant week of our summer holiday programme with 217 engagements from children and young people across the week!

Our children’s sessions were packed with painting, baking, dancing, sports, games, good food and plenty of fun, with lots of summer memories made along the way.

A huge thank you to Mikey from Edinburgh South Boxing Academy for coming along and delivering a fantastic boxing session. The children absolutely loved it!

Our young people were also out and about enjoying the Festival, good food and Escape Rooms.

As we’re gearing up to get back to school and back into routine, are you looking for something positive for your teenager to get involved in?

Instead of roaming the streets or sitting about with nothing to do, give them something to work towards.

Boxing is a brilliant outlet for young people — whether they’ve never put a pair of gloves on before or they eventually want to compete.

New Date Added!

We’re excited to announce one final P1–P7 Holiday Club session to round off the summer!

Monday 10th August | 10:30am–1:30pm

We’re delighted to welcome the incredible performers from Sophie’s Surprise 29th, the award winning Underbelly circus show featuring world class artists from productions including Cirque du Soleil, La Clique and The 7 Fingers. They’ll be joining us to deliver a fun, interactive circus workshop where young people can get involved, learn new skills and experience some of the energy, laughter and creativity that has made the show a Fringe favourite.

We’ll also have face painting, a magician, breakfast, and lunch of hot dogs, wedges, popcorn and ice cream, with halal options available, as we celebrate the end of another fantastic summer programme.

A huge thank you to Sophie’s Surprise 29th for generously giving their time to deliver this workshop completely free of charge for our local children and young people. We’re also incredibly grateful to Cash for Kids for helping make this extra Holiday Club session possible.
