We are excited to showcase the recent work on the much loved Machiatto trail at Pitfichie.

This major revamp has improved the ride experience delivering more flow while retaining the classic “rugged” technical feel of this popular trail that’s been evolving under our stewardship since 2018.

A huge shoutout to Mark who brought his trail building skills and previous experience as an ATA committee member to the job and delivered exactly what was needed.

This project wouldn’t have been possible without permission from our partners , generous donations from the @20.twenty.store series, our Trail Karma supporters and the sustained efforts of a dedicated community. Thanks to all who made it happen!

If you’d like to see more projects like this please like, follow, get involved in dig days or if you can make a donation or buy some merch!

Absolutely fantastic morning post and pre trail maintenance session on the original DH at Pitfichie as part of Take Care of Your Trails.

Work was carried out on every section of the trail - from the climb, the granite upper sections, through the woods and into the open finish.

Great to have organisers and racers from on trail, a massive young crew from , committee members from (thanks for the generous donation 👊), some of the north east team, ambassadors from , and a crew of our regular volunteers giving this loved track some TLC!

We also had the pleasure of a few of the Monymusk Community Council coming along to hear more about what we do AND in the village for refuelling 🍕 for everyone’s various afternoon adventures!

As the dust settles we can reflect on an amazing weekend hosting Round 2 of the @20.twenty.store series 2026 at Pitfichie here in Aberdeenshire.

Thanks to all the fantastic volunteers, local businesses and event crews from several race organisations that helped get the trails in such mega shape - it was epic!

A massive shout out also to our amazing local businesses and vendors who attended with products, exhibits and crew and to the extended local support from landowners and local community.

Finally a massive shout out to all the riders - it was a mega mix of locals and riders from further afield covering all categories which was fantastic to see! We’ve loved seeing our trails being enjoyed and the mega coverage online!

See you all next time!

Another cracking night as part of our May Take Care of your Trails activity.

We had a great group out in Pitfichie working alongside the team from on one of the regions standout trails, Pitfichie Original Downhill. Some supervision and line testing from and to make sure it was all running sweet too!

Loads more digs coming up if you want to get involved with ATA and also still time to get signed up to race or marshal with if you fancy it!

It’s been great to have some many folk out on the tools giving back to the trails in recent weeks.

Last weekend our Drumtochty trail lead Patrick had a group of volunteers and some of the team from out for a fantastic session improving trail surfacing, drainage and some long term sustainability work! Looking forward to more of this as we all gear up for a busy year!

With a busy calendar of digs and events coming up keep your eyes peeled for our teams out on the trails across the region!

Thanks to all the volunteers who’ve lent a hand, riders who’ve stopped to chat and thank the trail teams, to the individuals and business supporters who’ve made donations.

If you want to get involved keep an eye on our channels or drop us a DM.

It’s not always about the bikes you know!

The ATA has been involved in several conservation and forestry access projects over the years, and we continue to do so to this day.

Whether its drainage on an access path at Kirkhill, Conservation projects at Balmoral, Tree clearance at Birse or chopping back Gorse on a path at Pitfichie, getting involved in projects like this can only be a good thing for all forestry users going forward. 👍
