Another productive day spent in Jesmond Dene with a great team of hardworking volunteers from Sage 💪

It was feeling very Autumnal in the park, so the group cleared wet, fallen leaves from the public footpaths, making them less slippery and safe to use 🍁🍂

The team also cut back overgrown foliage, opening up the footpaths for members of the public.

We all had a lovely day in the Autumn sunshine and looking forward to working together again next month.

Yesterday, we worked alongside a great team of volunteers from EY at Leazes Park in Newcastle city centre.

The group collected 12 large bags of litter from around the lake 🌊 then, under the shadow of St. James' Park football ground, we carried out weeding and flower bed maintenance along the terrace 🌿🌿

The day finished after 20 metres of overgrowth had been cut back and cleared.....just as the rain started! 🌧️

Well done everyone! and a big thank you to the rangers at Newcastle City Council for hosting 💪

TCV - The Conservation Volunteers

We had two great corporate events last week in Newcastle's city parks and nature reserves 🌿🌱

Volunteers from Sage joined us to work with Newcastle City Council staff to help rake up mown grass on a section of Paddy Freeman's Park and Big Waters Nature Reserve.

Raking up the grass and then removing it helps lower the soils fertility, stopping the grass growth and providing space for the wildflowers to thrive 🌸🏵️🌷🪻🌼

We ended last week with a small but enthusiastic team of Sage volunteers to help us rake up cut grass in Heaton Park, Newcastle. All of this hard work will help new wildflowers to thrive 🌸🏵️🪻🌷🪷🌼

Over the next few weeks as we reflect on the end of Year One of our Strategy 2025-30, we'll be sharing what we have achieved so far for people and nature.

The output from our volunteer teams across the UK has been phenomenal! From the thousands of trees planted creating a network of pocket forests to facilitating better access to nature by restoring metres upon metres of paths and (sadly) removing bags upon bags of litter, our work has connected people to nature - and that work is delivering powerful results.

Volunteers are always at the heart of our work and mobilising thousands of you together has resulted in THIS.
