We’re proud to have supported the National Trust in creating the 23-acre Minnowburn woodland within the Lagan Valley Regional Park. By securing private sector funding from an early adopter in the transport services sector, we were able to support the planting of a mix of native species, enhancing biodiversity, capturing carbon, and offering recreation and heritage value.
Verified under the Woodland Carbon Code, Minnowburn demonstrates the careful stewardship needed to build resilient ecosystems. When Ash trees succumbed to dieback disease, they were thoughtfully replaced with locally sourced oak, ensuring the woodland’s future.
This project is a powerful example of how collaboration can restore nature and tackle the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss.
