As the Graphic Designer of Walk On, I am delighted to announce that we are raising money for FareShare North East this year!
FareShare North East is on a mission to get good food to the causes that need it most in the North East. They do this by saving food that is going to be thrown away (but is still perfectly good to eat) by delivering it to over 200 charities and community groups across the region. By making good use of this huge amount of food they save it from going to landfill, reducing carbon emissions.
In 2021, they delivered to 285 groups enough food to make more than 4 million meals, helping over 30,000 people gain access to food and saving 1,718 tonnes of food from being thrown away.
In 2023, FareShare North East plans to reach more groups and people with their food deliveries, continue providing food surplus training to the groups and individuals, and provide more opportunities to the volunteers, students, and employment participants that help them to get thousands of meals delivered every week.
Walk On Charity Fashion Show is a not-for-profit event, and all proceeds will go directly towards FareShare's food redistribution service, helping them to make sure they can make consistent food deliveries by supporting their warehouse, van, and volunteer equipment costs.
