** Reminder Post to changes that come into effect as of Monday 15th June **
****Please Everyone Take Note of and Share The Below Important Information****
We’re sharing an important update about how Food for Thought is adapting to significant funding changes from West Dunbartonshire Council. Because funds and food stock are now going to be a lot tighter, we will be prioritising families with children and pensioners only to ensure the youngest and most vulnerable in our community continue to have access to nutritious food during the months of greatest need.
This means that from Monday 15th June all households without children residing with them who are in need of emergency food aid will be advised via signposting to contact other Local Authority Services such as other local food banks, local pantries and West Dunbartonshire Council Welfare Services.
If you are a family with children or pensioner faced with food insecurity, please phone us on 01389743908 to complete a consultation before presenting for food aid. Contact to our admin email address ; [email protected] and or a message to our Facebook messenger can also be used as a means of contacting us.
Please also note that proof of child residency will be required to ensure we are serving a family with children, this can be shown to our office staff, documents such as Universal Credit Statement showing the child element and or Child Benefit/ Scottish Child Payments letters/awards.
Above and beyond this we also must stop our weekly run outreach centres in neighbouring Alexandria and Dalmuir again due to the lack of funds.
Our opening days and hours must be reduced for the next few months and will be the following ;
Monday 10am-3pm
Tuesday 10am-3pm
Wednesday – CLOSED
Thursday 10am-3pm
Friday 10am-3pm
Our team remains dedicated to dignity, respect, and clear communication, and we’ll review our new emergency approach regularly with the council and partner organisations. Thank you for your understanding that our priority now must be focused on the most vulnerable groups families with children and the elderly in our community.
