🎄 🎅 🧑‍🎄 A late post but a perfect way to finish the year at the squadron! 🎄
Our annual gingerbread house build took place on the final night, with plenty of creativity (and a lot of mess!) and great fun for all the cadets involved. Well done to all and the mansions looked amazing

Congratulations Fg Off Hannah
From an ex-cadet of 1777, to go on to join the RAF, and then, the honor of meeting the King. A reminder that every step, even the hard ones, leads somewhere meaningful.

🌟 Congratulations! Flight Sergeant McCairn Promoted to Cadet Warrant Officer 🌟
We are absolutely thrilled to announce the promotion of Flight Sergeant McCairn to the highest rank achievable for a cadet: Cadet Warrant Officer (CWO)! 👏
This prestigious achievement is a testament to CWO McCairn's exceptional dedication, leadership, commitment, and hard work over his cadet career. He has consistently demonstrated the highest standards of uniform, bearing, and mentorship to younger cadets.

My job keeps me busy flying aircraft, managing schedules, navigating time zones. But I still wanted to give back. That’s why I became a Civilian Instructor.

I was an Air Cadet myself, and it shaped the path I’m on today. It gave me confidence, direction, and a love of aviation that became my profession. Coming back to RAFAC felt natural, a way to return the favour and help young people find their own spark, wherever it leads.

I’ve met plenty of volunteers who were never cadets themselves they are teachers, engineers, parents, people from every walk of life. They bring their own strengths, and they succeed just as much as I have. What matters isn’t where you started it’s what you bring, and how you show up.

RAFAC volunteering fits around my life. There’s no minimum commitment, no pressure to be there every night. I contribute when I can, and it counts. Whether I’m mentoring cadets, supporting activities, or just being a steady presence in the room I know I’m making a difference.

I’ve discovered a whole new side to volunteering, one I didn’t expect. It’s not just about giving back it’s about growing forward. Through courses, camps, and shared experiences, I’ve built lasting friendships and found myself learning alongside others. Not just aviation skills, but leadership, communication, and the kind of quiet confidence that comes from being part of something bigger than yourself.

This is volunteering that respects my time, values my experience, and gives me something back personally and professionally.

I don’t wear a uniform. I just bring what I already have. And that’s enough.

Join us. Become a Civilian Instructor by checking out where you nearest squadron is https://www.raf.mod.uk/aircadets/find-a-squadron/

You don’t need a uniform. Start your journey. Strengthen your future. Make it unforgettable.

1777 Squadron RAFAC – Remembrance Service
Today our cadets proudly attended the Remembrance Service at Hermitage Park, Helensburgh, joining the local community in honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This was the first time in a number of years that we have taken part in the parade in Helensburgh, and it was a privilege to stand alongside so many in remembrance.
Our cadets were inspected by the Commodore of HMNB Clyde, who took time to speak with them about their experiences in the RAF Air Cadets and the achievements they have worked hard to earn.
A special highlight of the day was for one of our cadets who acted as the Commodore’s es**rt. In recognition of his duties, he was presented with the Commodore's Coin – the very first time one of our cadets has received this honour.

After attending the Remembrance Service at Hermitage Park in Helensburgh in the morning, Cadet FS McCairn continued his day of service by representing 1777 Squadron at Christie Park in Alexandria where he carried out his Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet duties, supporting the Lieutenancy of Dunbartonshire during the act of remembrance. He stood alongside veterans, fellow cadet forces, local youth organisations, schools, and members of the community in paying tribute to those who gave their lives in service.

We are incredibly proud of all our cadets for representing the Squadron with dignity and respect on such an important occasion.
