All their instruction is undertaken by well trained and qualified volunteer adult instructors, whose own training is regularly updated. We have local detachments from Bo'ness in the East to Bowmore in the West and Callendar in the North to Cumbernauld in the South, with over 500 young people enjoying the wide range of activities on offer. All of the detachments are run by trained and qualified adult volunteers.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Argyll and Bute, Jane MacLeod, recently visited the Lochgilphead Detachment to formally present Lieutenant Alistair Kenny with his Commission Scroll.

An Army Cadet Commission Scroll is a formal and prestigious document presented to Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) who have successfully completed their Initial Officer Training and passed their Cadet Commissions Board. The scroll formally grants His Majesty's Commission as an officer within the Army Cadet Force and marks a significant milestone in an individual's cadet service career.

During the evening, the Lord-Lieutenant also had the pleasure of presenting Cadet Staff Sergeant Lealan with the Lord-Lieutenant's Award. This award recognises exceptional achievement, dedication, and commitment within the Cadet Forces and is a testament to Cadet Staff Sergeant Lealan's hard work and contribution to the organisation.

The visit was a proud occasion for Lochgilphead Detachment, celebrating both the commitment of its adult volunteers and the achievements of its cadets.

The appointment of an Army Cadet Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet is a distinguished honour within the Army Cadet Force. The role involves a selected cadet serving as an aide and representative to the Lord-Lieutenant in their designated area, assisting at official events such as royal visits, Remembrance Sunday ceremonies, and civic functions.
Widely regarded as one of the highest accolades within the Cadet Forces, this appointment recognises outstanding commitment to cadet service, leadership, and community engagement.
Earlier this week, we celebrated the announcement of a new Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet within the Battalion. On Wednesday evening, we had the privilege of welcoming Jill Young MBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire, to Cumbernauld Detachment. During her visit, she formally presented Sergeant Lauren Carr with her Certificate of Appointment.
This special occasion marked a significant milestone for Sergeant Carr and was also a moment of immense pride for her parents and the detachment. During the evening, the Lord-Lieutenant spent time speaking with cadets and provided a fascinating insight into the duties and opportunities that Sergeant Carr will experience over the coming year.
We congratulate Sergeant Carr on this outstanding achievement and wish her every success in her role as Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet.

The appointment of an Army Cadet Lord-Lieutenant Cadet is a distinguished honour within the Army Cadet Force. Selected cadets serve as aides and representatives to their local Lord-Lieutenant, supporting a range of official engagements throughout their year in post, including royal visits, Remembrance Sunday services, civic ceremonies, and other prestigious events within their county.

On Tuesday evening, we had the privilege of welcoming Colonel Charles Wallace, The Lord-Lieutenant of Stirling and Falkirk, to Denny Detachment. During his visit, he formally presented Cpl Lucy Paton with her certificate of appointment as a Lord-Lieutenant Cadet.

This appointment recognises Lucy's dedication, commitment, and exemplary service within the Army Cadet Force. Throughout her cadet career, she has consistently demonstrated the values and standards expected of a senior cadet, making her a worthy ambassador for both her detachment and the Battalion.
During the evening, Colonel Wallace was also greeted by former Lord-Lieutenant Cadet, Cpl Alisha Moffat, who had the opportunity to reflect on her own experiences in the role. It was a wonderful occasion to see both the outgoing and incoming Lord-Lieutenant Cadets together, highlighting the continued success and opportunities available to our cadets.

The presentation was a proud moment for Lucy, her family, and the staff who have supported her throughout her cadet journey. We congratulate Cpl Paton on this outstanding achievement and wish her every success during her tenure as Lord-Lieutenant Cadet.
