Patchworking Garden Project Voluntary social horticultural project in Dorking. We offer people who are going through difficulties the positive effects of gardening.

The Patchworking Garden Project has been developed to bring positive change to people's lives through gardening. As a social horticultural project we hope to help those experiencing difficulties as a result of isolation, bereavement or recovery from either psychological or physical ill health. We offer a friendly and supportive environment for gardeners to work alongside our volunteers cultivating a new garden, growing flowers and vegetables. Based in Dorking, Surrey, we opened in Spring 2015. The project is being run by volunteers for the local community. A busy morning tending to the garden before putting down tools, picking up paintbrushes and enjoying some relaxing time decorating plant pots in the warm sunshine. 🌼

A lovely reminder that the garden isn't just about growing plants, it's also about friendship, creativity and enjoying time together in beautiful surroundings. 💚

Working hard… and taking a well-earned break in the orchard! 🌳🌼

Our volunteers have been busy planting daffodil bulbs around the orchard trees, ready to bring a lovely splash of colour next spring.

There’s always a mixture of activity at The Patchworking Garden, gardening, practical jobs, conversation, companionship, and of course the occasional moment to sit back and enjoy the surroundings. 💚

As we look ahead to the future of the Project, we’re also searching for a new Chair to help support and guide our wonderful volunteer-run charity when our founding Chair steps down.

If you know someone who would enjoy being part of a friendly, community-focused charity and helping The Patchworking Garden continue to grow and thrive, we’d love to hear from them.

A busy morning in the sunshine 🌞

There’s always something happening in our beautiful garden. Tending, tidying, cutting back, chatting, working together and simply enjoying being outdoors.

It’s this combination of gardening, friendship and community that makes The Patchworking Garden such a special place. 💚

As we look ahead to our next chapter, we’re looking for a new Chair to help guide and support our volunteer-run charity when our founding Chair steps down.

A busy Tuesday afternoon at The Patchworking Garden! 🌱🍅🔨

There was plenty going on this week, with our volunteers making the most of the garden as we move into autumn.

We harvested the last of the tomatoes and cooked them ready to use in future recipes, planted garlic for next year, and tucked daffodil bulbs into the orchard ready for a splash of spring colour.

There was also plenty of general tidying and clearing, plus some very useful repair work on our wooden stools.

A lovely afternoon of growing, cooking, fixing and working together. 💚

🌿 **What makes Patchworking special?**

The Patchworking Garden Project is about much more than gardening.

We provide a welcoming, supportive space where people can spend time outdoors, learn new skills, make things, grow things, build friendships and feel that their contribution genuinely matters.

Our volunteers come to us with a wide range of physical and mental health needs, and everyone is valued for what they can bring.

There are no expectations to be the best gardener, crafter or anything else. It's about belonging, confidence, friendship and having somewhere you feel welcome.

As we look for a new Chair to help guide Patchworking into its next chapter, we're looking for someone who understands how important that ethos is, and who would like to help us protect and develop it for the future.
