Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Newdigate.

Officers were called to Broad Lane at the junction with Parkgate Road around 1.30pm on Monday, 1 June following reports of a collision involving the driver of a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The van driver, a man in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Were you in the area around Broad Road between 1.30pm and 2pm on Monday, 1 June?

They are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision, or who may have CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident, to get in touch.

There will be plenty to explore throughout the day including:

💚 Activities and inspiration for all ages
🎟 CPR IT collection point for unwanted tech and cables
☕ Friendly faces, conversations and ways to get involved locally

Whether you are already passionate about sustainability or just curious to find out more, everyone is welcome.

Dorking Day of Dance returns on Saturday 6th June, bringing Morris dancing groups from across the region together for a full day of music, movement and celebration around the town with performances taking place throughout the day at locations including:

📍 Dorking Halls
📍 St Martin’s Walk
📍 South Street Gardens
📍 United Reformed Church
📍 Old House at Home

The day begins with a mass dance outside Dorking Halls at 10.30am, before groups head out across the town for performances throughout the day.

Alongside the dancing, there will also be plenty happening at The Big Celebration at St Martin’s Walk as part of Circular Dorking 1 Great Big Green Week, making it a fantastic day to spend in Dorking.
