A super evening listening to our guest speaker Jane Muddle talking about the story behind the bags and hats of Madagascar. We learnt a lot about the island and people. The display of hats and bags was amazing and the quality first class. Needless to say, many were purchased at the end of the evening.

Our next monthly meeting is on Thursday, 14th May, at 7.30pm at Burgundy and Black. Our speaker will be “The Story Behind the Bags and Hats from Madagascar” with Jane Muddle and there will be the opportunity to browse and buy some examples as well as our usual raffle and book table.
We look forward to seeing members and any visitors interested in joining our group.

Dorking Hens WI organised a successful Quiz Night at Java Cafe, raising an impressive £944 for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance charity. Thanks to Java Cafe for hosting us, Simon for his excellent quiz questions and generally keeping us in order, the local businesses and members who donated to our brilliant raffle and members of Dorking Larks WI who supported us and achieved the well deserved win. We are delighted to have raised a substantial sum for the Air Ambulance while having such a fun and sociable evening!

Out and about this month. A lovely snowdrop walk and finding out about some of the history of Milton Street in Westcott. We also had a delicious lunch at a members lovely home.

A great evening which included a very interesting talk about the Theatre Royal at Drury Lane. Peter Allan had everyone mesmerised by stories about the theatre and its stars. Matt looked after us, as usual with drinks and his hospitality at Burgundy & Black.
