Always a pleasure facilitating milestone reunions at BRNC.

May 2026
Alumni from the 1976, 1981, 1986 and 1996 entries, along with partners, returned to renew friendships forged many years ago — with some reconnecting for the first time in decades.

The programme included:
A tour of the College
Gifts for partners
Drill on the parade ground
A training update
Drinks reception
Four-course dinner
Music from the BRNC Volunteer Band
Time in the bar
Chapel service

As ever, there was much sharing of dits between entry compatriots, across generations, with partners, and with cadets following chapel.

It was incredibly generous of the families of our newly commissioned officers to return the small jars they had taken during the recent Families’ Weekend.

We haven’t yet counted the variety of coins inside, but we’re very grateful—thank you.

The Britannia Association—the registered global charity of BRNC—is supported in many ways, including through membership, legacies, and tour bookings.

Yesterday at Britannia Royal Naval College, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal took the salute at the first passing-out parade of 2026.

Families and friends from across the globe gathered to witness this momentous occasion, celebrating 155 future leaders of the Royal Navy.

As these young men and women assemble on the parade ground, it is worth reflecting on the entire team at BRNC who train and support them throughout their journey. While we naturally think first of the service personnel, there is also a vast network of civilian staff—ranging from catering and housekeeping to academics, naval stores, The Britannia Association and the heavy gang—who ensure the smooth running of the establishment.

Together, we all share a collective pride in watching the success of the officer cadets on parade and the Britannia Association is delighted to sponsor the live-streaming, allowing friends, families and alumni of the College to witness the event from their homes.

The Britannia Association, the registered charity representing the global alumni of BRNC, has in excess of 5,000 members and a permanent office within the College. One of its principal aims is to invest in BRNC — giving something back and enhancing the lived experience.

Celebrating the past, supporting the present and building for the future.

Today, at BRNC was International Day.
🇰🇼🇱🇹🇵🇰🇵🇭🇯🇴🇹🇴🇪🇬🇰🇭🇺🇦🇬🇭🇲🇹

Staff and cadets from around the world gathered on the Quarterdeck for a stand-easy with a difference - an opportunity to share insights into their respective cultures and Navies while enjoying a variety of traditional foods.

The Britannia Association represents Britannia Royal Naval College’s global Alumni – supporting the international cadets in many ways: yesterday showing around a group from Oman; funding the livestream of the passing out parades for those friends and families overseas; and providing connection through our on-line platforms and membership.

The BA has also commissioned the Britannia medal, awarded to the international cadets on successful completion of initial officer training and symbolising their enduring bond with BRNC.

Last week, the Britannia Association was delighted to support the Junior Chef Academy event here at BRNC. We were pleased to provide guided tour tickets as prizes and to offer participants a tour of the College—giving them a well-earned break from the heat of the kitchen!

Seventeen talented young people had the incredible opportunity to attend BRNC as part of the Junior Chef Academy. This exciting 10-week programme, designed for students aged 14–16, gives participants the chance to learn how to cook safely, develop new culinary skills, and build valuable life skills along the way. Throughout the programme, students worked together as a team—growing in confidence, communication, and teamwork in the kitchen.

Delivered with the support of ESS and Exeter College, this initiative highlights a shared commitment to nurturing future talent and creating meaningful opportunities within the industry.

A huge thank you to the College’s Executive Chefs who generously gave their time, expertise, and passion to mentor and support the group. Their dedication truly brings these opportunities to life.

To celebrate their achievements, the students hosted a special graduation evening, preparing and presenting a fantastic three-course meal for their families and invited guests—showcasing everything they’ve learned.

As shared by ESS staff:
“The evening itself was a fantastic showcase of everything the participants have learned. The three-course meal they delivered was outstanding — creative, thoughtfully presented, and executed to an exceptionally high standard. It was a real testament to their hard work, growth, and potential.”

I think you'll agree from the photos, that a delicious meal was enjoyed by all. BZ everyone.
