Last week, the Britannia Association was delighted to support the Junior Chef Academy event here at BRNC. We were pleased to provide guided tour tickets as prizes and to offer participants a tour of the College—giving them a well-earned break from the heat of the kitchen!
Seventeen talented young people had the incredible opportunity to attend BRNC as part of the Junior Chef Academy. This exciting 10-week programme, designed for students aged 14–16, gives participants the chance to learn how to cook safely, develop new culinary skills, and build valuable life skills along the way. Throughout the programme, students worked together as a team—growing in confidence, communication, and teamwork in the kitchen.
Delivered with the support of ESS and Exeter College, this initiative highlights a shared commitment to nurturing future talent and creating meaningful opportunities within the industry.
A huge thank you to the College’s Executive Chefs who generously gave their time, expertise, and passion to mentor and support the group. Their dedication truly brings these opportunities to life.
To celebrate their achievements, the students hosted a special graduation evening, preparing and presenting a fantastic three-course meal for their families and invited guests—showcasing everything they’ve learned.
As shared by ESS staff:
“The evening itself was a fantastic showcase of everything the participants have learned. The three-course meal they delivered was outstanding — creative, thoughtfully presented, and executed to an exceptionally high standard. It was a real testament to their hard work, growth, and potential.”
I think you'll agree from the photos, that a delicious meal was enjoyed by all. BZ everyone.
