St Andrews Playgroup has been serving the local community since 1977, over 40 years! We have a fantastic team working together in partnership to meet your children's needs. Our safe and enabling environment is there to help your children develop their skills through play, meeting their individual needs with a large indoor and outdoor space allowing your children free flow. 🎒 Attention New Parents & Community Members! 🌟

Is your child starting at St Andrews Playgroup this September? Or are you a local resident looking to make a meaningful impact in our community? We need YOU to help our playgroup thrive!
As a charity-run playgroup, our committee is the heartbeat of everything we do. Without parent and community volunteers, we simply cannot operate. We are currently looking for enthusiastic individuals to fill our Committee Member spaces and a dedicated Chairperson.

How You Can Get Involved:
• Committee Members (September Starters): This is a fantastic way for new parents and carers to share ideas, help with events, and make new friends before the school year begins!
• Chairperson (Open to Everyone): This key leadership role is open to ANYONE in the community, including all parents, carers, and local supporters. You’ll receive full support from our wonderful, friendly team.

☀️ Important Sunny Day Reminders for St Andrews Parents & Carers! ☀️

We are loving the beautiful weather, and the children are having a wonderful time in the sandpit! To help us keep everyone safe, happy, and hydrated, please remember the following:

🧴 Apply Sunscreen in the Morning: Please apply a long-lasting sunscreen to your child before they arrive at playgroup so they are ready for outdoor play.

🧢 Sun Hats & Water Bottles 💧: Kindly bring in a sun hat and a refillable water bottle daily. Please ensure both are clearly labelled with your child's name.

👟 Easy Shoes: To help foster independence when getting in and out of the sandpit. We ask you send your child in shoes with Velcro straps or easy slip-ons.

Thank you for your cooperation! Have a fantastic long weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

Happy St. George’s Day! 🐉🛡️

We’ve had a legendary morning celebrating England’s national day! Our tuff tray was transformed into a sensory battlefield featuring a snowy flag, brave knights, and a very misunderstood dragon.
To complete our quest, the children also designed their own heraldic shields! Using lots of cardboard, paint, and glitter, our little knights-in-training created their own symbols of bravery. It was a fantastic way to explore the story of St. George while working on those important fine motor skills.

🌈 Colourful Sensory Fun at Playgroup! 🎨

Last week the children explored colour, texture and creativity through some exciting sensory activities. We celebrated Holi – the festival of colours by experimenting with bright coloured powders, creating patterns and mixing colours together.
The children also enjoyed a hands-on sensory tray using cornflour and food colouring. They loved watching the colours spread and mix, exploring how the colours moved and changed. This activity encouraged curiosity, creativity and early scientific thinking.

Activities like these help support:
✨ sensory exploration
✨ fine motor skills
✨ creativity and imagination
✨ early science discovery
It was wonderful to see the children experimenting, talking about the colours they could see and sharing the experience with their friends🌟

We’re so excited to invite you to our special Mother’s Day Fundraiser at playgroup!
Join us on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th March at 12.30pm for a lovely little event where children can take part in a lucky dip and choose from a range of beautiful new toiletries – including lots of gorgeous Lush products – for the special ladies in their lives 💝
It’s a wonderful opportunity for the children to pick a surprise gift for Mum, Nan, Auntie or someone special, all while helping us raise funds for playgroup.
✨ £2 minimum donation per gift ✨
We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate all the amazing women in our children’s lives! 💕

Here at St Andrews, we focus on the whole child. Alongside play and learning, children are supported to understand their feelings and develop early self-regulation skills.

When children are given skills to name and recognise their emotions (happy, sad, excited, frustrated), they build confidence, empathy, and stronger connections with others. When adults model sharing feelings too, it shows little ones that all emotions are okay. ❤️
