Keeping your streets safe and clean
Each month teams across the council work together with partners like Kent Police to make sure that you can feel safe and well when you're out and about in the borough.
Whether it's dealing with fly-tippers, engaging with local shops and businesses, or clamping down on anti-social and nuisance behaviour, we're here to serve you.
Here's what we got up to in May 2026:
76 asb fines
Fines for littering and breaching our Public Spaces Protection Orders
Kingdom security officers patrol the borough to make sure it stays clean and tidy for everyone to enjoy. They also monitor anti-social behaviour to help you feel safe.
We have additional powers to deal with specific anti-social and nuisance behaviour. These powers come under our Public Spaces Protection Orders.
In the town centre we can fine people for improper use of e-scooters, drinking alcohol or taking drugs in the street, or carrying out other anti-social behaviour.
We've also listened to your concerns about street racing and car meet-ups, and have a borough-wide PSPO in place to prevent that.
We issued 76 fixed penalty notices for littering and PSPO breaches last month.
We inspected 15 reports of fly-tipping and issued 12 tickets
Our Environmental Enforcement team works round-the-clock to investigate and prevent fly-tipping right across the borough. Last month we received 15 reports of fly-tipping, which resulted in 12 tickets being issued..
We don't always fine people, we do offer advice where we believe there's been an honest mistake. Everyone can do their part to prevent fly-tipping, in fact everyone has a duty of care to make sure their waste isn't dumped illegally by a third party.
The Neighbourhood Watch website has helpful advice to help stop fly-tipping.
283 local business check ins by town centre wardens
Last year we introduced new town centre wardens in Dartford to help business owners, shoppers and visitors feel safe on the High Street and surrounding areas.
They're there to deal with nuisances and crimes like shoplifting, littering and improper e-scooter use, but also to help support you as you go about your day, and to speak with shop and business owners to make sure that the town centre is thriving.
You can find out more about what the town centre wardens get up to here, or stop and ask them next time you're in town, they're more than happy to help.
