Another day of Digital Detox with YES services. Today we were in the glorious Castle Coole estate in sunny Fermanagh. This County is blessed with some of the most marvellous Country parks,estates in the country and the National Trust are doing a fantastic job of looking after the grounds.Thanks alot to ,



for taking time out of your busy schedules to unplug ,and leave the phone down for a few hours and hopefully learn a few nuggets of environmental, heritage and historical facts and stories about our great outdoors and biodiversity.

As a very fitting end to mental health awareness week YES services spent last friday at the glorious glenveagh national park with and , hosting a digital detox day in the great outdoors. It doesn't sound like much but for alot of us it is very hard to actually step away from our digital devices and take a few hours deconnected from the Web and reconnecting to Nature.Making new friends,meeting old friends,reawakening our senses and hopefully learning a few bits and bobs of environmental information and most importantly having abit of craic,a cuppa and a few hours of outdoor therapy in argueably the finest National Park in Ireland??

Over one year ago we had one of our youth groups help out with some habitat creation days in Collin Glen ,building leaky dams,coppicing Hazel and making dead hedges to promote biodiversity. Their dams and the hedges are still standing ,and still doing what they are meant to!Slowing down the water as it flows to the main river,creating pools and sheltered spots in the stream for wildlife and helping to oxygenate the stream by providing a small waterfall.Well done to the lads for their work,and doesn't a year fly by?

It was a pleasure to be helping out Lagmore youth project and ledley hall boys and girls club on their residential on Saturday at Glendalough, County Wicklow.These guys are participating in the ascent programme funded through peace plus and we had a great day exploring this wonderful park ,making new friends ,learning new skills and carrying out some social action tasks to ensure we left the park a little bit better than we found it,,,🌳🧽🪣.
Thanks also to An Oige -Glendalough youth hostel for the help,it was a great day.
