Grow the Glens

Grow the Glens Grow The Glens is a social enterprise and a not for profit community interest company. Marine. AgriFood. Tourism. Sustainability.

It has been established to develop the skills, facilities and infrastructure necessary to enable local enterprise and create sustainable well-paying jobs in the area. Our main focus of interest will be in economic projects concerning:

Technology. Our projects will be grouped into three key areas:

Seed

Our Seed projects are aimed at local school age children to introduce them to engaging STEM e

nvironments and initiatives in local industry, agriculture and the marine. Nurture

Our aim is to develop skills, enhance capacities and open up opportunities for young people, women and the economically inactive or disenfranchised. Our projects will focus on 21st century digital skills, entrepreneurship and the needs of local industry - existing and emergent. Grow

Technology and our geographical position reframes the economic narrative of our area. Distance from cities or regional towns is no longer a barrier to economic activity - providing that telecommunications infrastructure is in place, that facilities and capabilities exist to act as a catalyst, and that STEM skills (or access to training) are high in the community. Our projects will seek to place an impetus on growth of appropriate facilities and capabilities that will enhance economic activity. Half of our hinterland is the Marine. We are uniquely placed to harness the economic potential of marine tourism, aquaculture, tidal energy and marine engineering. Our projects will seek to open up our coastline to sustainable and sensitive economic development and clustering.

We’re exploring the idea of running a Basic First Aid course at Grow the Glens and would love to know if you’d be interested in taking part.

This would be a practical, confidence‑building session covering everyday first aid skills - the kind of knowledge that can make a real difference at home, at work, or out in the community.

If this is something you’d like to do, just comment below or send us a message to add your name to the list. Your feedback helps us plan the right programmes for the Glens community.
