💙 Have a learner with Type 1 Diabetes in your school?
For teachers and Pupil Support Assistants, a little understanding can make a BIG difference to a learner’s safety, confidence and school experience.
💙 Know the signs of hypo and high glucose
📱 Understand that phones, CGMs and insulin pumps can be essential medical technology
🏃 Support learners to take part in PE, trips and school activities
📋 Know and follow their individual healthcare plan
👂 Listen to the learner — they live with T1D every single day
Most importantly: don’t make them feel different, don’t make them wait and don’t assume they can’t take part.

As part of NFU Mutual's Agency Giving Fund, which forms part of our £4 million Charitable Giving Programme for 2026, £2.33 million has been allocated to the Agency Giving Fund to support local, frontline causes that make a real difference every day

This means that each NFU Mutual agency has the chance to nominate one local charity to receive a donation of £7,899.

This year, we are delighted to announce our Ayr office chose to donate to Lochlan’s Legacy 🩵

Devon met up with Lochlan and Lesley from the charity to present them with their cheque.

🌟 Meet Our Founder – Lochlan Murdoch 🌟
At just 4 years old, Lochlan's life changed forever when he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
Rather than letting diabetes define him, it inspired him.
At only 11 years old, Lochlan founded Lochlan's Legacy with one simple goal – to make life better for others living with Type 1 Diabetes and to educate people about what Type 1 Diabetes really is.
Today, Lochlan lives life to the full. Whether he's playing or watching sport, heading to concerts, or cheering on his beloved Kilmarnock FC, he proves every day that Type 1 Diabetes doesn't have to stop you.
His motto says it all:

Through Lochlan's Legacy, he continues to use his own experiences to inspire others, challenge misconceptions, and raise awareness so that no child or family feels alone after a Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis.

Type 1 diabetes isn’t just insulin and numbers...
It’s thinking about it 24/7.
Like... it never really switches off.
Some days I’m fine.
Other days it just does my head in.
So when it gets like that, I just go and do my thing -
• kick a ball about ⚽
• take the dogs out for a walk 🐕
• or jump on the console for a bit 🎮
Nothing mad... just stuff that helps me chill and forget about it for a while.
Even just taking a minute to breathe and reset actually helps more than you think.
