🏆 Cumbernauld United AFC end of season awards 🏆

⭐ Coaches Player of the Year - Deano. Midfield dynamo with 3 engines at times. Constant energy and impact in games and brings a real drive forward in the team.

⭐ Players Player of the Year - Marcus. Our captain and a rock at the back for the team. Leads by example in his performances and a deserving winner this season.

⭐ Refs Player of the Year - Paul. For the third season in a row Paul picks this up for most MOTM. Out at wing back this season and constantly up and down the line supporting both attack and defence.

⚽️ Top Goalscorer - Daniel. Another 3 times in a row winner. Total of 25 goals scored this season and also 22 assists. 47 goal involvements is a brilliant return for the season. Pace and a constant threat to defences as the numbers show.

🧨 Goal of the Season - Brolly. A terrific solo goal in the cup this season sees Brolly pick up our goal of the season award.

🥇 Training Attendance - Conor. Our second top scorer and goal contributor and a constant in the team this season.

Across the course of the season we had a total of 31 players who played for the club. We scored a total of 97 goals across all competitions we played in. Overall not the season we wanted and feel we could’ve and should’ve got a lot more out of it.

We also need to remember it’s only our 4th season as a club playing in a very difficult league. Across those 4 years we have had 2 promotions, 4 cup finals and out of those we have 1 cup won. We now look forward to a break and we look to reset and go again next season and bring in some fresh faces to take us back to the levels we reached the season before.

Again we just want to thank all of our supporters, our two sponsors and everyone who has contributed through fundraising and other activities. Without that it is not possible to run the club.

Disappointment today as we lost the Co-op cup final 4-1.

A game which we started very well for first 20 and found ourselves in front as Conor turned home a corner from Keir. However, we couldn’t sustain it and a couple of mistakes and we found ourselves 2-1 down at half time.

Into the second half and we never really got going. We did manage to create a few chances hitting the woodwork several times but ultimately it was Halfway that put the ball in the net another twice to win the game 4-1. Not a 4-1 game in our eyes but Credit to them on the day as taking the chances makes the difference.

Thank you to everyone who came to support the club today and everyone who has supported us across the season. We really value and appreciate it.

Conor ⚽️ Keir 🎯

This weekend we take on Halfway AFC in the final of the Co-op cup. It will be a tough match against a good side as we look to end our season of ups and downs on a high. It would be great to see a number of supporters along to back the boys on Sunday. Or with not much amateur football left even if it’s just to get your weekend game then come along as it should be a cracker.

We’ve been asked to pass on the following:
- No fire works or flares are permitted
- Gates will open from 13.00 for Spectators.
- No alcohol will be allowed
- Spectators must stay off the park

A 2-2 draw in our final league game of the season against Tricolorul. Short on players with only 2 subs but we fought well and feel we should’ve won the game with chances we had.

We started very brightly creating chances and causing a threat. Eventually we were rewarded as a Conor initial shot found its way to Lee who slotted the ball home well to put us in front.

Our opponents equalised not long after with a goal we felt potentially struck the hand but was well finished by their striker over the goalkeeper.

Into the second half and an error at the back meant the ball was played straight to their striker who was through on goal and scored to take the lead. Unfortunate for the defence who were brilliant against the opposition strikers who are a handful.

We continued to be patient and moved the ball well creating chances. Eventually Dean made a great run down the right, got across the defender and was brought down for a penalty. Paul stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way shocking all in attendance expecting the same outcome as Gabriel 🤐

We pushed for a winner and despite a couple of great chances we weren’t able to get the 3 points but none the less happy with the performance and building momentum into the big game next week in the cup final.

Lee ⚽️ Conor 🎯
Paul ⚽️ Dean 🎯

Refs MOTM ⭐- Jay - despite the ref telling him in the first half he was having a shocker he gives him man of the match 🤣 brilliant energy and composure on the ball and an assured performance.
