A charity to help the elderly. As a charity, our main aim at the Henhayes Centre is to reduce isolation, loneliness, and seclusion for the elderly and disabled people of our local community, while promoting their health and well-being. We do this by offering a number of core activities which include fantastic meals, support, friendship, companionship, activities to improve fitness, mental and cogn
itive health, providing healthy meals, and the opportunity to develop positive social connections. By providing a safe and welcoming facility, where you can be sure to feel included, cared for and appreciated, we strive to enhance quality of life, provide fun-filled activities, and ensure that instead of being isolating and lonely, aging can be enjoyable and entertaining. A Centre for the whole community. The Henhayes Centre opened in 2008 and replaced the old Crewkerne Day Centre which had been running since 1975. Although the new Centre still provides some of the services delivered by the old Day Centre, we have recognised the change in attitude towards old age, the better health of many senior citizens, their ability to remain mobile and retain independence for longer as well as the needs of the whole community. This means we now offer a broader range of services and activities, and the Centre is used by a range of outside groups of all ages. Hire of the Henhayes Centre
Not only do we host a number of groups, classes and activities we also hire the Centre out to a number of community groups as well as for private hire. We are the perfect venue for a celebration or party, a wake or celebration of life, Christening, concert or show or a fitness or dance group. We have a large hall which can hold up to 130 people as well as smaller rooms for meetings or lesser gatherings. We have a well equipped commercial kitchen and a fully licenced bar. We also have a portable stage and dance floor.
