We give food shops can't sell to anyone to eat through our community fridge at 2 West Street Crewkerne TA18 8AX. More at www.opendoorssomerset.org.uk

We also run a Repair Hub there fortnightly on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from 10-midday. Crewkerne Community Kitchen gives away food that shops can't sell to people who would like to eat it. Thanks to support from Crewkerne Town Council we have space at the George Reynolds Centre, South St Crewkerne TA18 8DA, and open on Mondays 11-1pm, Tuesdays 11.30-12.30pm and Thursdays 9.30 to 11am. Any donations are welcome - cash helps cover the cost of insurance, and volunteers picking up the food. We also run the Chop & Chat cooking group on Fridays from 11am - 2pm; join a group of people preparing and eating delicious healthy food on a budget at the Speedwell Hall, 5 Abbey St Crewkerne TA18 7HY. We ask for a £3 voluntary contribution for those that can afford it, which covers the cost of ingredients - usually we prepare a 2 course meal and there's often leftovers!

Thanks to Adam Dance for visiting Open Doors Somerset and Flagship Crewkerne project and highlighting our work to a wider community.

Crewkerne has so much to be proud of, and Flagship Crewkerne is a fantastic example of why.

I recently met the team from Open Doors Somerset to hear more about their brilliant work and the Flagship Crewkerne initiative.

The flags displayed around the town are a great example of the pride people have in Crewkerne and the community spirit being championed across South Somerset.

Initiatives like this show what can be achieved when local people come together to make their town a better place.

I was also delighted to hear that Flagship Crewkerne has entered Visa’s Let’s Celebrate Towns competition in the Community Pride category. If successful, it could secure £20,000 to help take its work to the next level.

I have everything crossed for Jess and the team. It would be fantastic to see their hard work recognised nationally.

Thanks so much to everyone involved, It is people like you who make Yeovil and South Somerset such a special place to live.
