A Sunday spent in Taunton, supporting independents!
That sounds pretty good to us. 😀

Taunton Independent Market returns on Sunday 13 September, with a lovely mix of small independent businesses setting up shop on Castle Green.

There'll be good things to eat and drink, things made by hand, things for your home, gifts, treats and probably a few things you won't intend to buy but will be very glad you did. 😍

And that's really what we love about market days. They give small traders a chance to get their businesses in front of new people, but they also give us another reason to come into town, have a wander and spend a bit of time here in Taunton.

Maybe you grab a coffee somewhere! Perhaps you head into town for the market and end up staying for lunch, visiting a few shops or having a drink afterwards. That extra footfall spreads well beyond Castle Green, and it's so important for keeping our town centre busy and our independents thriving.

So if you're free on Sunday 13 September, head into town and make a day of it. Shop small, eat well, have a browse and support some brilliant local businesses while you're here.

⭐️There's something special about Taunton Independent Market Day in Taunton town centre.

⭐️This Saturday, Castle Green in Taunton will be packed with over 30 fantastic independent traders, bringing colour, creativity, incredible food and plenty of character to the heart of Taunton from 10am to 3pm.

⭐️One of the things WE love most about market days is the atmosphere, PLUS the smell of street food and fresh savoury bakes and cakes that fills the air, colourful stalls, happy faces, live music and people meeting friends and stopping to chat, browse and spend time together. It turns a shopping trip into an experience.

⭐️Markets don't just benefit the traders either. They bring hundreds of people into our town centre, creating extra footfall for local shops, cafés and businesses and helping to make Taunton a busier, more vibrant place to be.

⭐️This month's market features everything from illustrators, potters and craftspeople to bakers, food producers and street food vendors, alongside music all day from The Roller DisGoat and live entertainment from the talented students at The SPACE Somerset, who will be performing songs from the musical Chicago.

⭐️Whether you're after a unique gift, a delicious lunch, a sweet treat and a coffee, or simply to spend an enjoyable few hours relaxing outdoors, there's plenty to discover at Taunton Independent Market.

⭐️Shopping with independent businesses means supporting real people doing what they love, and there's something really refreshing about meeting the maker, hearing their story and buying something you won't find on the high street.

⭐️So grab a shopping bag, bring the family, enjoy the music and make a morning or afternoon of it.

Call for Community Groups & Stallholders – Okehampton Pride 2026

Okehampton Pride, with support from Unique Events SW CIC is delighted to announce that Okehampton Pride 2026 will take place on Saturday 18th July 2026 in Simmonds Park.

As part of this vibrant and inclusive community event, we are inviting local organisations, support services, charities, and stallholders to be part of the day. Our aim is to create a welcoming and supportive environment that celebrates diversity while also providing access to valuable information, guidance, and community resources.

We are particularly keen to hear from groups and organisations involved in:

• Sexual health awareness and support
• Mental health services and wellbeing
• LGBTQ+ support networks
• Community outreach and inclusion initiatives
• Youth services and advisory groups
• Local charities and not-for-profit organisations

Okehampton Pride is more than just a celebration—it is an opportunity to connect people with services, promote understanding, and strengthen community cohesion. By bringing together a wide range of organisations, we hope to ensure that attendees can access support, information, and a sense of belonging in a safe and welcoming space.

As the countdown to the Lyn Valley Classic Car Show continues, our local businesses are gearing up for what promises to be a fantastic weekend! ……So, what are we asking you to do?

Take a few minutes to browse our digital show brochure and start planning your day! Inside you’ll find maps, event information, timings and details of everything happening across the two towns.

Why not decide which cafés, restaurants, pubs and shops you’d like to visit? Bring along your valuables if you’d like a professional valuation, test your driving and gaming skills on the simulators, and if you’re up for a challenge, take part in the popular Family Car Trail around the towns. There are plenty of activities for children and families.

💥 Taunton is set for a great day this Saturday 25th April, as the Taunton Independent Market returns to Castle Green in the town centre.
💥We’ve got a brilliant mix of local traders joining us, from cakes, bakes and sweet treats to street food, artisan produce, crafts, art and more.
💥 Whether you’re after something delicious to eat, a unique gift, or just a wander and a browse, there’ll be plenty to discover from 10am - 3pm.
💥 Some of the fantastic businesses attending include Awesome Brownies, Blissful Wellness Treats, SB Bakes, Winnies Bakery, Mike’s Patisserie and Rebel Fudge for those with a sweet tooth, alongside Cheese Connection, Greek Olives, The Funky Anchovy and Rebellade & Filthy Fruit. Street food lovers are covered too, with Soi 5 Burritos, Chay Bisdak, Sabaidee P&M Laos and Thai Food and How We Roll.
💥 You’ll also find a great selection of makers and creatives like Nadine Carey Art, Sharls Crafts, Montania Designs, Gallery 59 and Uniquely Holt, plus a variety of other independent stalls including The Pop Up Pet Shop, Red Fox Bushcraft, Somerset Wildlife Trust and the RSPB.
